Brothers Dingwall finish one-two, Kyle gets first feature win
BROCKVILLE-It was one of those family moments at the race track on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. Kyle Dingwall scored his first career feature win taking the 20 lap Sportsman main with brother Cole finishing second.
It appeared that Cole was headed for his second win of the year until mechanical problems popped up in the closing laps after a tangle for the lead with Adam Moore. Kyle took advantage to pass his brother just before the yellow flag came out for the final restart. Kyle pulled away as Cole wrestled his car to hold onto the runner up spot. Tim Alton was third followed by John Mulder and Jason Riddell.
Lee Gill tuned up for next weeks 100 lap Super DIRT Series event cruising to victory in the 30 lap Modified event. Gill battled for 6 laps with Mark Hitchcock finally getting past the Kingston pilot on the 10th circuit and going the rest of the way for the win. Hitchcock settled for second with Stephane LaFrance, Jeff Sykes and Brian McDonald rounding out the top five.
The Novice points race took a dramatic turn as Roger Bushey passed Shane Ray in the late going to grab the 15 lap feature victory. Points leader Kees VanWinden went out of the race early when a tire came off his machine. The win gives Bushey a glimmer of hope heading into the final points race next week. Ray finished second in front of Dave Renaud, Ryan Poole and Dave Austin.
Danielle Legault all but cliched the rookie crown as she outfoxed Brad Kirkland in traffic and won the 10 lap Rookie feature. Kirkland got trapped behind a lap car costing him the top spot. Bill Woodward Jr was third with fourth and fifth going to Joseph Banks and Martin Walter respectively.
Next week is the final weekend of racing at Brockville Ontario Speedway. Friday night, September 13th, the Turning Stone Casino Super DIRT Series for 358 Modifieds roars into town for a speical 100 lap event. Steve Paine and Pete Bicknell will renew their point battle against the Brockville regulars including three time track champ Lee Gill. All three other divisions will also be in action with final points nights for the Novices and Rookies. Time trials begin at 6:30 for the Modifieds. The green flag drops at 7:30.
