TUCKER NOW TWO FOR TWO AT THE B.O.S.
BROCKVILLE-It was last year’s track champion against the number one contender on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. When the checkered flag flew, challenger Ben Tucker of Redwood, N.Y. had taken his second Sportsman feature in as many starts at the fast quarter mile oval.
Tucker earned the win slicing his way through the pack making moves on the high side then the low side before getting a shot at two time defending champ Randy Gaudet of North Augusta. Gaudet was game but with 5 to go Tucker managed to get by and cruise home for the victory. Paul Billings of Oxford Mills rounded out the top 3.
Lee Gill of Lefargeville, N.Y. started in the front row and led all 25 laps to take his first 358 Modified feature win of the season. Gill withstood a mid race challenge from Renfrew’s Jerry Skebo then was starting to lengthen his advantage when the checkered flag fell. Skebo was a strong second followed by a late charging Frank Caprara of Watertown, N.Y. Mark Hitchcock and Todd Stewart, both of Kingston rounded out the top five in a field of 20 cars.
Brockville’s Randy Earl showed that he has fixed his clutch problem. Earl with his new clutch picked up the 15 lap Pro Stock win. He finished a half lap ahead of Mark Therrien of Alexandria and Dave Marshall of Prescott.
Terry McCullough of Kingston took the 10 lap Novice main which featured a number of thrills and spills. Mark Smoke of Akwasasne got close but couldnt find a way around McCullough. Roger Bushey of Ogdensburg N.Y. brought his pink coloured machine home for the number three spot.
