CANAAN, NH July 30, 2005.
The 358 Jack’s Competition Engines 358 Modifieds were back in town for a Twin State event and the Canaan Fair Speedway Dirt was just about perfect. Just ask Jim Ryan who grabs the checkers in the forty lap main event. The night’s activities were in Memory of “Rit” Baker. Owner of several cars over the years with the last being the infamous #22 which saw many a laps at the Fair. “Rit's” widow Janet and family were on hand to celebrate the memory of “Rit”.
First up were the Granite State Mini Sprints 500cc’s several cautions would slow the pace before checkers were waved with Chris Chambers of Brookfield Vt grabbing the honors. Following Chambers to the finish was Kolbi Walton-Strong of Sharon VT and Mike Henderson of Loudon NH.
In the Granite State Mini Sprints 600cc’s things ran a bit smoother for the seventeen cars on hand which was good for Anthony Warren of Shoreham VT who cruised home for the win followed by the Kolbi Walton-Strong doing double duty from Sharon VT and Chip Johnson of Meredith NH.
In the Clear Channel Weekly Racing Series Lin-Mat Photos Fast Fours Adam Lyman is on a mission. Having to work from deep in the pack of a full field of cars brought to the green by Carl Caveney and Chris Gray Lyman would have his work cut out for him if he wanted to get to the front. By lap six he was in the top three and on lap eleven he took the lead and never looked back. Lyman of So Royalton VT scored his third win of the season. Following him to victory lane was Ryan Christian of Canaan NH and TJ Wolfenden of Meredith NH.

The Clear Channel Weekly Racing Series Jack’s Competition Engines 358 Modifieds were the featured division for the “Rit” Baker Memorial, and after driver Introductions strapped in and proceeded to put on a whale of a show for the fans. These thunder stomping cars always impress and the racing was fast and furious for their main event. Starting on the outside pole Jim Ryan of Whiting VT saw an opportunity and took it. Brian Whittemore of Florence VT would be your pole sitter but it become obvious quickly that Ryan would be your leader. An early caution on lap two would give Whittemore one more chance but Ryan was not about to be deigned. Ryan got the lead on lap for and set a blistering pace to the checkers. Whitt would hold on to second until lap fifteen when he was overtaken by the young gun Adam Pierson of E Corinth VT. From there Whitt would see his finish fade to fourth when a lapped car would give Chris Donnelly of Orford NH the break he needed and he would get by Whitt for the third and final podium spot. At the checkers it would be Ryan, Pierson and Donnelly your top three.
