CANAAN, NH August 12, 2005.
Fans, drivers and crews help make the first annual David’s House Benefit Race Sponsored by Sabil & Sons of White River Jct., VT a huge success despite the (ONCE AGAIN) rain shortened event. Next Friday night there will be more than enough racing excitement as the Sabil & Sons Sportsman Coupes will run Segment #2 of their Madness night, plus a regular event, then the Lin-Mat Photo Fast Fours will be going way too many laps to count as they make up their rained out 20 lap event, and then it is Madness night for the Fours.
The Granite State Mini Sprints made an appearance with a very strong car count in both the 500 and 600 mini machines. As always this mighty mini machines put on some excellent racing excitement for the fans with plenty of action and often times a roll over or two. With everyone coming out A-Okay!

It was Madness night for the Clear Channel Weekly Racing Series Sabil & Sons Sportsman Coupes. 33 laps were sponsored for the night with eight of the drivers competing for the extra dough and the extra points. Madness night on the dirt not only means extra dollars if you are in the top five for each lap and are eligible but it also means double points for the overall finish. An extra $990.00 is on the line for this field of cars, but unfortunately they will have to wait another week for the final results, as segment #2 won’t get scored in the record books until next week the 19th (weather permitting!!)
Ryan Avery would be your pole sitter having earned the spot with the most laps sponsored with Rick Fadden along side. Segment one would go green to checkers with Avery never relinquishing the spot. Fadden would fall back to fifth by the end with Adam Osgood and Melvin Pierson getting by him for the second and third spots with Doug Titus in fourth your final extra dollar position.
Segment two will be run as the first event this Friday the 19th and the field will be inverted from the first segment finish. That means these top five will have to work their way to the front, which should prove for some pretty exciting racing action.
Segment one finish: Ryan Avery #01, Adam Osgood #1, Melvin Pierson #33, Doug Titus #12, Rick Fadden #46, Bryan King #X, Louis Cadwell #81, Kevin Chaffee #73, Toby Stark #013, Josh Harrington #3, Fred Fecteau #31
The Clear Channel Weekly Racing Series Pro Streets ran a feature only this night, with the threat of rain ever present and the need to get as much in as possible. Chad Turk would bring the field to the green with Danny Eastman Thetford VT along side. One caution would slow the pace which would turn out to be the break that Brian Piper needed. On the restart Piper was able to get by Eastman who had assumed the lead by the end of lap one and Piper of Fairlee VT would go on to claim the win over Eastman Thetford VT. Completing the top three would be Graham Dolder of Laconia NH
Feature Finish: Brian Piper #12, Danny Eastman #8, Graham Dolder #50, Peter Gourley #25, Chad Turck #56g
The Clear Channel Weekly Racing Series Jack’s Competition Engines 358 Modifieds were on hand for thirty laps of racing excitement. These ground pounding heart stomping machines hit the track with one thing on their minds, who was going to be the winner at the end, and could they get it done before the rains. Brian Whittemore of Florence VT was back after a hard wreck at the Bowl last Sunday night, and would bring the field around for the green. Chris Donnelly of Orford NH unfortunately for Whitt is definitely on a mission in ’05 now that he seems to have it figured out, and quickly got by Whitt for the lead. A caution on lap six would regroup the field but Donnelly didn’t let that deter him from his goal. Lap fifteen would see the 15 of young gun Adam Pierson knocking on Donnelly’s door, getting by Whitt for the bridesmaid position. The final caution on lap twenty two would regroup the field for the last time, and Donnelly your leader would opt for the outside line. At the start it looked like Donnelly might have erred in his decision for this grove, but when the pack came around it would be Donnelly over Pierson, no wait, over Troy Gray of Thetford VT, in his first appearance at the Fair in 2005. Gray and Pierson would have some heavy competition between themselves for the final few laps, and at the checkers it would be Donnelly your winner of Gray with Pierson your final podium winner.
Heat winners: Adam Pierson #15, Chris Donnelly #17
Feature Finish: Chris Donnelly #17, Troy Gray #OO, Adam Pierson #15, Dan Douville #7x, Gary Siemons #6, Jim Ryan #60, Brian Whittemore #36, Tyler Rich #44, Christine Boesch #17x
The Clear Channel Weekly Racing Series Lin-Mat Photos Fast Fours were to be the last ones on the grid for the night, but unfortunately Mother Nature would win this feature. The event will be run this Friday night the 19th before they kick off their Madness laps.
Heat winners: Roy Holland Jr. #68, Chuck Simmons #34
Feature finish: To be run August 19th.
