Planck two for two at Cornwall
CORNWALL-Cornwall Motor Speedway won a battle with the weatherman, while Dale Planck won his battle with the field for the second straight week on Sunday night. Despite intermittent showers, the track was able to get in two of the five features scheduled.
Planck started 12th in the first of two scheduled 20 lap features. He powered through the field and took the lead after a classic 5 lap battle with Chris Jones, using a lapped car as a pick on lap 17 for the win. Jones settled for a strong second followed by Dan Jalbert who started on the inside pole. Stephane LaFrance was fourth with Luc Plante grabbing a top five finish with a final burst of speed on the final circuit. The second 20 was rained out.
The Pro Stocks also managed to get their 20 lap feature before a final downpour put an end to the proceedings. Joey Ladouceur went wire to wire for his first win of the year. Marc Therrien with a couple of late race passes was second in front of Mitchell Jock, who charged from 18th starting spot to finish 3rd. Travis Back and Michel Dupuis rounded out the fast five.
The second 20 and the Semi Pro and Rookie features will be run beginning at 6:45 next Sunday before the regular race program. That will be followed by a special 50 lap Mr. Radiator series event for the Pro Stocks, plus regular features for Modifieds, Semi Pros and Rookies.
