BACHETTI TURNS A BREAK INTO WIN AT ACCORD

ACCORD, NY- Andy Bachetti had a little bit of luck on his side Friday night at the Accord Speedway as he won the 30 lap Modified feature for his second victory of the season at the l/4 mile bull ring. The Sheffield, Massachusetts star took the lead on lap 19 when leader Ken Boniface Jr. got into the fourth turn wall. Bachetti then pulled away after the restart to record the win.
“We got lucky tonight,” said Bachetti. “The car was a little off and Boniface was really having a good run. He clipped the backstretch wall and then got into the fourth turn wall. It’s tough racing here and fortunately we were able to get the win.”
Boniface grabbed the lead on lap one before the yellow flew a lap later for a four car tangle in turn one. On lap three the caution was out for a Willie Auchmoody spin in the second turn. Boniface powered away at the restart but it was yellow again for a six car pile up in turn one. After another yellow, racing resumed and Bachetti was on the move pulling into fifth place and quickly took over third.
Another yellow on lap six came out as Danny Tyler stopped on the track before going off on the hook. When the green light came on Danny Creeden moved into second. At the halfway mark Boniface continued to lead with Creeden, Bachetti, Mel Schrufer and Rich Ricci Jr. in pursuit. With 15 laps complete the caution was out as Tyler Dippel stopped on the track and went off on the hook.
On the lap 16 restart Boniface and Creeden made contact with Creeden hopping the wheel of Boniface. A man on the move was Jackie Brown as he pulled into fourth. On lap 19 the yellow was out for Boniface who was in the fourth turn wall. The new leader was Bachetti and when the green flew he quickly pulled away. Brown the current point leader moved into second with two to go.
As the checkered flew it was Bachetti in for the win with Brown taking second. Schrufer, Creeden and Rich Ricci Jr. completed the top five.
Kevin Duryea, Mike Ricci, Tommy Meier, Donnie Elliott and Jerry Higbie rounded o ut the top ten. Ricci picked up a ride in the Sherlock Racing No. l0 car which he will drive again at Tuesday’s Battle of the Bull Ring.
The Sportsman feature was won by Anthony Perrego for his fourth straight victory. “The car was really good tonight but the No. 20 car tried to take me out. Fortunately it all worked out,” said Perrego. Dave Werber, Greg McCloskey, Vinnie DeCicco and Bill Dietz completed the top five.
Tyler Boniface won his fifth Spec Sportsman feature of the season. He took the lead on lap six and cruised to the win. Joe Judge took second place money followed by Jim Rajczi, Ed Dachenhausen and Rich Ricci III.
Ron Rion won the 25 lap Pro Stock feature. It was his first win since the 2006 season.
John Woinoski was victorious in the Pure Stock feature.
Johnny Bankich won the 4 Cylinder feature.
