"Hurricane" Steve Paine won the "Jiffy Auto Service 100" at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. The Waterloo, New York driver had lapped all but 6 cars to win the first race in the MR.DIRT Modified championship trail. The winner of the MR.DIRT series picks up $20,000 U.S. Dale Planck, from Homer, New York, finished 2nd with regular Cornwall Speedway driver Mark Hitchcock coming in a close 3rd. Hitchcock picked up one of two spots from Cornwall for the season ending championship series in Syracuse, New York. The other spot went to Tim Hindley. The Montecello, New York driver finished 7th in the feature. All the drivers that finished ahead of Hindley had already qualified for Syracuse. Danny Johnson, who led the halfway point of the race, had to settle for 4th. Pierre Dagenais rounded out the top 5.

DAN Johnson picked up $2,000 worth of parts for being the leader at the halfway mark. Todd Burley won the $100 Hard Luck award after he was forced to the cushion heading into turn one and flipped his car. The $100 Hard Charger award went to Bill Mullin for moving up 15 spots. The Iroquoi, Ontario driver started the 100-lap feature 23rd and finished 8th.

Danny O'Brien claimed his 2nd straight, 3rd overall Cornwall Motor Speedway track championship last week.

Marc Therrien picked the Track Championship in the Late Model class with authority. He entered the night leading the points and, just to make sure, the Alexandria, Ontario driver won the 20- lap feature. Norm Burroughs, from Rigaud, Quebec finished 2nd with Lee Ladouceur coming in 3rd. Rounding out the top 5 were Stephane Lebrun and Dean Ranger.

Jody Beckstead finished 3rd in the Duke Stock feature to win that class' championship. Stephane Phillipe, Masham, Quebec won the race.

Robin Laframboise won his 2nd straight Rookie Stock Championship. The Cornwall runner had the award locked up heading into the night's action. Yvon Morin won the 12-lap feature.

There's still one more week of racing but now, it's all up to the amateurs. The "Fireball Enduro 300" is set for Sunday, September, 12th. There will be 300 laps of racing for 8 cylinders as well as 4 cylinders. Enduro racing gets underway at 2 pm.
