DEBUT OF NEW SPRAKER/KINGSLEY/JOHNSON TEAM ENDS UP IN WINNERS CIRCLE
FULTON, NY...Alan Johnson won his second Fulton Speedway DIRT 358 Modified feature of the season last Saturday on B104.7 Radio Night. The win for the defending Fulton Speedway Track Champion came in a brand new car for the team headed by Jake Spraker and Eric Kingsley. Johnson took the lead away from Justin Haers on lap 14 and he would lead the rest of the distance in the 35-lap affair. The victory was worth $1,500.
Jim Larock raced out to the early lead at the start of the B104.7 Radio DIRT 358 Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Larock set a fast pace from the start and after five circuits he was being followed in the top five by Tom Sears, Mike Prentice, Justin Haers and Dave Rauscher. Larock would lead the first 11 laps of the main event before he was forced to pit with mechanical problems.
Haers inherited the lead from Larock on lap 12. Haers would only lead one more circuit, however, as Johnson took away the top spot on lap 14. Johnson wasted little time in his charge to the front on the multi-groove track. At the halfway point Johnson was being chased in the top five by Haers, Todd Burley, Gus Schmidt and Craig Terrell. Sears, Tim Fuller, Jimmy Phelps, Jeff Rudalavage and Tom Kinsella raced in positions sixth through tenth respectively at the halfway mark.
Johnson drove a flawless race in the final half of the event to claim the win. Rookie driver Craig Terrell made a late race charge to finish second, his best ever outing. Rudalavage, Sears and Haers completed the top five feature finishers. Phelps, Burley, Fuller, Dale Planck and John Barker finished in positions sixth through tenth respectively in the highly competitive field.
Greg Doust claimed his first DIRT Sportsman feature race win of the season last Saturday at Fulton Speedway after several weeks of bad luck. Mike Button, Ryan Richardson, Eric Richardson and Terry Knoblach followed Doust across the finish line. Doust led the entire distance in the 20-lap event.
Jason Rood won his second straight DIRT Pro Stock main event last Saturday night. Lee Burnett, Jeremy Clark, John Pietrowicz and Tom Barron followed Rood across the finish line. It was Rood's third feature win of the season. Rood took the lead away from Pietrowicz on lap 11 and led the rest of the 20-lap distance.
Todd Storace was the feature winner in the 15-lap Pure Stock finale. Russ Marsden, Phil Marsden, Chris Cunningham and Curt Prevo completed the top five feature finishers behind Storace. On lap six Storace took the top spot away from Cunningham and he would lead the rest of the 15-lap distance.
Chad Guthrie was the winner of the Four Cylinder Enduro feature race. Troy Engerbretsen, Jerry Herbert, Matt Parker and Buddy Grant finished in positions second through fifth respectively.
Action will continue this Saturday at Fulton Speedway with the Patriot Super Sprint Group joining the DIRT 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks in competition. Race time is set for 7 p.m. For more information please call the track office at 315-593-6531 or go on line to www.fultonspeedway.com.
