KLINE, DESANTIS AND CHRISMAN ARE GRANDVIEW FEATURE WINNERS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 25, 2002 . . . Three features produced three different winners at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night with Ron Kline and Ron Chrisman each winning a 20-lap feature for the NASCAR Late Models and Meme DeSantis getting his second feature win of the season in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Modifieds.
In the 20-lapper for Late Models that kicked off the show, this was a feature left from an April 27th rain out, Ron Kline put his Ben Lopez Plaster & Stucco sponsored entry in front of the pack at the drop of the green and lead all 20-laps to gain his first feature win of the season. Dean Stoudt put some pressure on Kline in the final laps but fell about a half car length short of catching the leader. Third spot went to Lou Egrie followed by Ron Chrisman and John Giesler. Kline was running a 6 cylinder Late Model in his victory effort while 95% of the starting field of 26 cars had 8 cylinder race cars.
In the second 20-lapper for Late Models Ron Chrisman had his hands full with Jason Miller and Lou Egrie for the second half of the feature event. The three battled for the victory, often times side-by-side, with Chrisman getting the edge at the checkered flag. Second spot went to Miller followed by Lou Egire, Rick Todorow and John Giesler.
Meme DeSantis got his second NASCAR Modified feature win of the season in a close down to the wire finish in the 30-lap, 29 car main event, against current track point leader Kerry Kratz. Third spot went to Keith Brightbill who was trying for a clean-sweep having won his heat race and cash dash. Craig VonDohren charged to the top five, settled in at fourth, and was unable to gain any ground on the leader. Jeff Strunk, who came from far back in the field, earned a fifth.
