BRIAN MCDONALD TAKES 358 MODIFIED TOP HONORS AT FROGTOWN

Brian McDonald of Cornwall, Ontario seems to have things really going his way now as he took home his second win in a row at Frogtown International Speedway this past Saturday night.

Doug Fuller and Bruce Sawyer started on the front row of the Sno Parts Unlimited / River Valley Antique Tractor and Engine Club 25 lap main event with Fuller grabbing the early lead. The first caution of the race came out in lap #2 for the #21S of Bruce Sawyer who came to a hault on the front straightaway.

On the restart, Fuller grabbed the lead once again followed closely by Dan Jalbert, Craig Ormsby, Jeff Sykes and Delbert LeGrow. On lap #7, Tom Jock, Jr. caught the right front wheel of Delbert LeGrow's #71 modified in turn #4 catipulting the #31 of Jock into the air and sending the car into a series of barrell rolls then catipulting up into the air again with the car doing a series of twists in the air and then finally coming down hard to rest next to the pit wall. Tom miraculously got out of the car but was complaining of neck pain so he was transported to an area hsopital. No report was available at press time on Tom's condition.

On the restart, Fuller grabbed the lead again followed now by Brian McDonald, Dan Jalbert, Kyle Jacobs and Craig Ormsby. McDonald stayed close to Fuller as the two battled for the #1 spot until lap #19 when McDonald finally had an opening in turn #2 and slid by the long time veteran Fuller to take the lead and go on for the win. Doug Fuller settled for second after a great run with Kyle Jacobs finishing third as Mark Hitchcock and Mike Perrotte rounded out the top five.

In the DIRT Pro Stock feature, Dave "The Bulldog" Bissonnette took home the win in the Quality Concrete #10 in exciting fashion. Ron Morin and Greg Snyder started on the front row with Morin grabbing the early lead. Mitchell Jock and Bill Adams made it a three car battle for the lead until lap #4 when the three came together in turn #4 sending the young start Jock to the pits.

On the restart, Bill Adams grabbed the lead but only for one lap as Greg Snyder fought back getting the lead. Back in the pack, Bissonnette and Jody Swamp were on the move and heading for the front in a hurry. On lap #17, Bissonnette had moved into second and then was able to find an opening in turn #2 slidding under the 15T of Snyder grabbing the lead and going on for the win. Snyder settled for second with Jody Swamp, Bill Adams and John Lazore, who came from the very back of the field after a lap #2 pit stop, to finish fifth.

In the Semi Pro division, Stephane Philipe came from his 7th starting position to take the lead on lap #13 after Jeff Marshall, who looked like he was well on his way to a big win, dropped out of the race allowing Philipe to inherit the lead and hold off three time feature winner, Pete Backus, for the win. Philipe in the post race interview said he had never won on the long track before, so this was a big win for him. Tammy Jalbert, Jamie Martin and Dick Planty rounded out the top five.

In the always fast paced Bandit division, Kevin Fetterly, Jr. finally was able to put things all together and came home the winner just ahead of good friend Kevin Mere for the win. Danielle Legault, Cory Wheeler and Ron Sharlow rounded out the top five.

In the always exciting Enduro class, Keldon Herne picked up his first win of the season holding off Enduro class top guns Leon Delormier and Owen White for the win. Tom Bryner and Ernie Cree rounded out the top five.

Next week it will be Akwesasne Boat Tours and Adams Construction night at the speedway. A regular card of 358 Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Semi Pros, Bandits and Enduros will be featured along with the third appearance of the season by the Winged Warriors. It will also be Poster Banner night at the speedway as the kids get a chance to display their banners of their favorite drivers and cars in front of the grandstand at intermaission.
