MARK HITCHCOCK, JOEY LADOUCEUR, GREG SNYDER, BILLY WOODWARD, JR.

AND ERNIE CREE VICTORIOUS AT FROGTOWN

Mark Hitchcock of Kingston, Ontario won his second feature of the 2002 season in the 358 Modified division and tightened up the point race with only four weeks to go.

Mike Reyell and Mark Smoke started on the front row of the Akwesasne Boat Tours / Adams Construction 25 lap main event with Reyell grabbing the early lead. The first caution of the event came out in lap #4 when third place runner at that time, Mark Smoke, spun out in turn four causing a five car pile up.

On the restart, Reyell grabbed the lead followed by Kevin Fetterly, Dan Jalbert, Doug Fuller and Jeff Sykes. Two more cautions followed in lap #5 as the attrition rate seemed to be running very high on this evening. On lap #5, Reyell grabbed the lead once again but Hitchcock who started 16th in the field had the cautions work to his advantage and was able to move up through the field quickly and grab the lead from the popular Mike Reyell on lap #6 going down the back stretch. Hitchcock began to pull away from the field but the battle for the next four spots raged on between Kevin Fetterly, Kyle Jacobs, Dave Heaslip and Brian McDonald. Heaslip and McDonald put on a race and a half coming from their 15th and 18th starting positions to do battle especially McDonald who spun out not once but twice in the event and still managed to get back to the top five. Kevin Fetterly and Kyle Jacobs put on a great show for the fans for second and third with some great side by side racing.

At the halfway mark of the race, Hitchcock was still the leader followed by Kevin Fetterly, Dave Heaslip, Kyle Jacobs and Brian McDonald. The veteran driver, Heaslip, tried everything he could to catch Hitchcock but Mark had the car hooked up perfectly and cruised home with the victory. Dave Heaslip finished second with Brian McDonald getting up for third as Kyle Jacobs and Kevin Fetterly rounded out the top five.

In the DIRT Pro Stock class, it was Joey Ladouceur of Alexandria, Ontario coming home with his second win of the season. Scott Kocher and Joel Herne started on the front row with Kocher grabbing the lead at the drop of the green. Kocher looked very impressive and appeared to many like he may be making an appearance in vicotry lane but on lap #10, Ladouceur found an opening and slid by the popular crowd favorite Kocher and went on for the victory. Scott Kocher hung on for second with Mitchell Jock, Dave Bissonnette and Mark Therrien rounding out the top five.

In the action packed Semi Pro Divison, it was Greg Snyder returning to the winner's circle. Snyder who worked his way up from his 5th starting spot grabbed the lead on lap #2 from Steven Brand and went on for the victory. Jamie Martin picked up a ride from Paul Czyz and took the #79 to a second place finish followed by Dick Planty, Tom Chubb and Kevin Mayville at the finish line.

In the fast paced Bandit Division, it was three car wide racing action at its best in the early going ot the event that thrilled the fans in the early going. Cory Wheeler grabbed the early lead until lap #4 when Billy Woodward, Jr. pulled off the move of the season coming from his #6 position at the time to first by passing one car on the front stretch and then going to the very top of the race track and passing four more cars that were running in a close pack grabbing the lead before the cars got to the #2 turn. Woodward came home with the impressive win followed by Kevin Mere, Jeb Beeson, Roch Aubin and Dan Lortie.

In the Enduro class, Ernie Cree and Tim Webb staged a battle and a half as the two exchanged the lead with each other no less than six times during the event. Cree was able to work his way through the traffic and fight off Webb for the victory. Tim Webb finished second with Dion Oakes, Kelvin Clement and Vern Benware rounding out the top five.
