JOEY LADOUCEUR BESTS A STAR STUDDED FIELD TO WIN AT FROGTOWN

The Mr. Radiator Pro Stock / Late Model Series made its stop at the Frogtown International Speedway only to see Alexandria, Ontario's Joey Ladouceur dominate a star studded field of Pro Stocks and Late Models representing Autodrome Edleweiss, Cornwall Motor Speedway and Frogtown Internation Speedway.

Frogtown's regular Tim Allen had a great run in his qualifying heat and by virtue of his win in the heat, earned th pole position with Ladouceur starting along side. At the drop of the green, Ladouceur grabbed the lead followed closely by Louie Jackson, Dave Bissonnette and Mark Therrien. Scott Kocher in the #50 seemed to be the fastest car in the race other than Ladouceur in the early stages as he moved up quickly from his 6th starting spot and found himself sitting third by lap #9 of the 35 lap event.

While Ladouceur kept some distance from the rest of the field, the race for second turned out to be some of the best racing of the season between Dave Bissonnette and Scott Kocher. The two swapped positions back and forth a number of times providing some great racing for the fans. On lap #11, Mark Therrien began to make his bid for the top spot getting by both Bissonnette and Kocher with some slick moves of his own.

Up in front, Joey Ladouceur could do no wrong even when the cautions tightened up the field a number of times, Ladouceur would just pull away on the restarts leaving the rest of the field behind. On lap #25, Bissonnette was able to get by Therrien for second and set his signts on Ladouceur hoping there would be a chance to get by. But that chance never came as Ladouceur cruised home for the win. Dave Bissonnette settled for second with Mark Therrien holding on for third, Todd Raabe finished fourth and William Adams rounded out the top five.

In the Oionkwaonwe Enterprises 25 lap 358 Modified feature, Mike Perrotte of Morrisonville, New York picked up his second win of 2002 at Frogtown.

Bruce Sawyer and Mark Smoke started on the front row of the event with Sawyer grabbing the early lead followed by Smoke, Kevin Fetterly, Doug Fuller, Matt Gonyo and Jimmy Lazore. The caution came out quickly though after Smoke violently exited the fourth turn Smoke was able to drive his car back to the pits after the scary incident.

On the restart, Fetterly grabbed the lead only to loose it once again to the determined Bruce Sawyer in his #21S Budweiser modified. Sawyer maintained his lead through lap #14 followed now by Mike Perrotte, Mark Hitchcock, Jeff Sykes and the consistant Bill Cook. On lap #15, Perrotte was able to get by Sawyer for the lead. Mark Hitchcock and Dave Heaslip who seemed to have come out of nowhere jumped into second and third and set their sights on Perrotte. But Mike was just to quick in traffic and went on for the win. Mark Hitchcock finished second with Dave Heaslip, Jeff Sykes and Bruce Sawyer rounding out the top five.

In the 15 lap Semi Pro feature, Pete Backus took home his second win of the 2002 season. Melvin Rush and Ryan Phillips started on the front row of the event. Tom Chubb came from this third starting spot to grab the early lead and held it until lap #12 when Backus was able to get by and go on for the win. Jeff Marshall made a great run from his 12th starting position to get second as Tom Chubb, Steven Brand and Jamie Martin rounded out the top five.

In the Bandit feature, "The Rock" Roch Aubin who has been having a banner season at area tracks picked up yet another win in another action packed feature. Danielle Legault finished second but not before a great battle with Kevin Fetterly, Jr. who finished third. Newcomer Dan Lortie finished a very impressive fourth and Ron Tyo rounded out the top five.

In the Enduro feature event, Ricky Thompson found his way to the winners circle in one of the most exciting races of the season. Owen White who finished second came across the finish line with Thompson on the last lap with just inches separating the two cars. Steve Bushey finished third with Tom Square and Adam Bigtree rounding out the top five.
