MARK HITCHCOCK TAKES 358 MODIFIED TOP HONORS AT FROGTOWN

Hogansburg, NY ... Mark Hitchcock of Kingston, Ontario found out that patience is definitely a virtue as he claimed the win in the 25 lap Bears Dean / JR Fuels 358 Modified Feature this past Saturday night at Frogtown.

A very competitive 24 car field took to the speedway with Craig Ormsby and Jimmy Lazore starting on the front row. At the drop of the green, Ormsby grabbed the early lead only to loose it to Massena, New York's, Kevin Fetterly who came charging up from his fourth spot on lap #4. Back farther in the pack, Brian McDonald, Mike Perrotte, Bill Cook and Leon Gonyo were making some great moves early to work their way up to the front from their 8th, 9th, 10th and 12th starting positions.

Hitchcock who started 6th in the field moved in on Fetterly and was able to get by on lap #9 to grab the lead. Mike Perrotte got by Fetterly on lap #10 and set his sights on the leader Hitchcock. At the half way mark, it was Hitchcock leading followed closely by Mike Perrotte, Brian McDonald, Kevin Fetterly and Kyle Jacobs. Hitchcock began to lengthen his lead until lap #18 when the caution came out for Doug Fuller of Edwards who had come to a halt in the #4 turn.

On the restart, Hitchcock knew Perrotte was getting ready to make his move and wasted no time putting distance between he and Perrotte. Hitchcock's car was hooked up perfectly on the fast Frogtown surface and despite a great effort, Perrotte was unable to catch the speedy #95 on this night as Hitchcock continued on for the win. Perrotte took second with Brian McDonald getting up for third in his best run so far this season, Kyle Jacobs and a very consistent Bill Cook rounding out the top five.

In the DIRT Pro Stock division, Gilles Godard of Alexandria, Ontario won his first feature ever in the Pro Stock Class. Once again a very evenly matched and competitive field took to the track with Brian Loeb and Louie Jackson starting on the front row. At the drop of the green flag, it was Jackson grabbing the lead. On lap #10 Godard, who started third, was able to get by second place runner at the time, Marcel Pecore, and then make a great move to get by Jackson and inherit the lead.

Pete Bissonnette was on the move in the #10 along with Jody Swamp and Scott Kocher and the three quickly moved into the top five. Bissonnette tried everything to catch Godard but Gilles was too hungry and determined to bring home the win and went on to take the checkers. Pete Bissonnette settled for second with Jody Swamp, Scott Kocher and Marcel Pecore rounding out the top five.

In the Semi Pro feature, it was Jeff Marshall finally holding off division rival Greg Snyder for the win. Jamie Martin came from his 5th starting spot to grab the early lead and led for three laps when Snyder grabbed the lead followed by Pete Backus who was able to get by Martin as well. Jeff Marshall had come from his 9th starting spot to work his way up through the field and get into the top five quickly and soon found himself challenging Pete Backus for second. Marshall got by Backus and set his sights on Snyder. Marshall had his #80 working perfectly and on lap #8 was able to get by Snyder and go on for the win. Greg Snyder held on for second with Pete Backus, Neal Provost II and Dick Planty rounding out the top five.

In the always popular Bandit division, Ron Tyo and Eric Tyo put on yet another crowd pleaser with a great battle. Ron was able to hold off Eric for the win by the narrowest of margins. Despite many challenges, Eric Tyo settled for second with Mark Radbourne, Kevin Fetterly, Jr. and Danielle Legault rounding out the top five.

Owen White came home the winner in yet another action packed Enduro feature. Leon Delormier finished a very close second with Steve Bushey, Tim Webb and Ernie Cree rounding out the top five.

The evening's racing was capped off by a fabuous fireworks display that made the crowd cheer wildly. Special thanks go out to two great sponsors. JR Fuels and The Bear's Den who sponsor both race evenings at Frogtown and race cars in the area as well. Thanks to both for sponsoring another great show.

Next week the Mr. Radiator series makes its stop at the speedway featuring some of the top names in DIRT Pro Stock and Canadian Late Model racing. A regular card of 358 Modifieds, Semi Pros, Bandits and Enduros will also be featured as well all sponsored by another long time Frogtown Sponsor Oionkwaonwe Enterprises.
