MARK HITCHCOCK, BILLY "THE KID" KING, GREG SNYDER, CHRIS TREMBLAY AND OWEN WHITE
VICTORIOUS AT FROGTOWN
Hogansburg, NY (08/19/00) - Mark Hitchcock brought home his second feature win of the 2000 season in convincing fashion at Frogtown last Saturday night. Hitchcock started on the pole of the #31 Racing Team, Jocks Fabrication, Jocks Family Hair Care 25 for the modifieds with Dan Ryan of Benson, Vermont along side. Hitchcock grabbed the lead at the drop of the green with Ryan never losing sight of the Kingston, Ontario native.
Doug Fuller and Bill Cook who both have not won at Frogtown yet this season along with Dan Ryan were all determined to stay at the top of the tough and competitive field of cars. Back in the pack, Pierre Dagenais started to mount one of his famous late race charges along with Wind Gap, Pennsylvania's Frank Cozze who seems to be making an appearance at "The Frog" a little more often these days.
Hitchcock began to weave his way through the traffic on lap #12 with Ryan keeping him in his sights hoping that he would falter, but it never happened as Hitchcock was as steady as a rock throughout the feature. Hitchcock came home with the win with Dan Ryan picking up his best finish ever at Frogtown finishing second. Doug Fuller and Bill Cook also had their best run of the season finishing in third and fourth, with Pierre Dagenais rounding out the top five.
In the DIRT Pro Stock division, Bill "the Kid" King did not have an easy time of it as Mark Therrien and Eric Gauvreau kept the pressure on throughout the feature go. King, a master at running the outside part of Frogtown Speedway's racing surface, knew that the track was just to his liking to keep from losing the lead despite a determined Mark Therrien to get by in the closing moments of the race. King went on for the win with Therrien finishing second. Eric Gauvreau, Louie Jackson and Steve Francis rounded out the top five.
In the Semi-Pro division, it was Greg Snyder fighting off challenges from Andy Heywood who was looking to make it two in a row at the speedway and Tim Allen to take home the win. Allen who grabbed the early lead wanted his first win at the speedway in the worst way, but Snyder who also had one thing in mind as well and that was to get the lead and keep it which he did on lap #5. Andy Heywood finished second with Tim Allen, Mike Harris and Dick Planty rounding out the top five.
In the popular Bandit feature go, the Johnson Antiques entry finished 1st and 2nd in the event with Chris Tremblay taking the victory with Curtis McPhee coming in second, Brian Loeb who stayed in the hunt throughout the event finishing third as Roch Aubin and Jerry Thomas rounded out the top five.
In the Enduro feature, Owen White never looked back once he go the lead to take home the win. Joe Back finished second with Steve Green, Mark Denny, Jr. and Richard Pruner rounding out the top five.
The speedway would like to thank Tom Jock, Jr.'s #31 Modified Racing team, Jock's Fabrication and Jock's Family Hair Care for sponsoring the nights racing action.
Next Saturday night will be a regular card of racing with a demo derby toping off the nights action.
