ALBERT BECOMES 10TH WINNER IN 10 RACES
Middletown, NY ... On Saturday night, Bobby Albert III of Wappingers Falls, NY became the 10th driver to win a big block feature at the Orange County Fair Speedway this season. Starting on the pole for the Liberty Pest Control 30 lap feature, Albert took the lead at the drop of the green and ran home for his 3rd career win here.
The feature went non stop, but he was pressured throughout by second finishing Gary Edwards, Jr. Ric Hill finished 3rd while defending champion Chuck McKee finished 4th. McKee's finish coupled with point leader Jeff Heotzler's 15th place finish moved McKee to within 10 points of Heotzler for the division lead. Rusty Smith had his best career finish taking 5th.
In the Howard Johnson Hotel 20 lap DIRT Sportsman feature, Rich Coons of Montgomery, NY won for the first time in 2003. Second went to Mike Traushold while Mike Walther, point leader Joe Dunay, and Mike Kolka completed the top five. This feature was run as a non-point event since Fonda Speedway was running a DIRT Sportsman East region event on the same night.
In the Expert Pro Stocks, John Bryson of Croton Falls, NY added to his slim point lead when he won the 20 lap feature for the 2nd time this season. Clark Bradford of Greenville, NY won the 18 lap Rookie main. The second event in the 48 State Lube and Filter Pure Stock Summer series was run with Shawn Maher of Wurtsboro, NY won the 12 lap feature for his 2nd win of the season. He also won the first event in the series.
Racing returns Saturday night at 6:00 pm as the 358 Modifieds join the card along with the Big Blocks, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.
