DOUBLE SHOT FOR HEOTZLER: 3RD WIN & POINT LEAD

Middletown, NY: It was a big night for Jeff Heotzler of Wallkill, NY at the Orange County Fair Speedway Saturday night. After losing the point lead to two time defending track champion Chuck McKee after The OCFS Modified Tour race On August 1st, Heotzler came roaring back to win his 3rd feature of the season on Saturday night. Starting 12th in the field, Heotzler took the lead from Tom Hindley in turn two on lap 28 of the Dover Brake 30 lap event. Additionally, he got a huge break when McKee was eliminated from competition in a turn 3 scramble on lap 7 and finished last. As a result, Heotzler, who trailed by 20 points going in, is now up by 20 points with 3 weeks left in the regular season. Hindley, Chris Whitehead, Scott Goodrich, and Tommy Meier were the balance of the top five.

In the Kirk's Auto and Truck Service Center 20 lap DIRT Sportsman event, rookie Clinton Mills of Middletown, NY led wire to wire in the non stop feature to collect his first ever win. Stan Jablonka took over the point lead with his 2nd place finish as Joe Sarvis, Lee Charnock, and Alan Sturhann completed the top five.

The 14 lap Expert Pro Stock main went to Bill Pascual of Cortland Manor, NY. It was his first win of the season. The 12 lap Rookie feature was claimed by Dave Hoogerheyde of Lake Stockholm, NJ who won for the first time this year.

On Old-timers night, the 15 lap feature for the Northeastern Vintage DIRT Modified Racing Club was taken by Dave Hoogerheyde. He recently purchased a car from Jeff Richardson which won last year's event and then held off Richardson to take the checkered.

The Pure Stock division had the night off.

Racing returns next Saturday night at 6:30 pm with the 358 Modifieds joining the Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.
