FULLER CLAIMS FOURTH WIN OF 2002 ON HOFMANN HOT HAUS NIGHT
FULTON, NY...Tim Fuller claimed his fourth DIRT 358 Modified feature win of the season at Fulton Speedway last Saturday on Hofmann Hot Haus Night. Fuller benefited from the misfortune of Alan Johnson who was forced pitside with mechanical problems on lap 27 while leading. The victory for the Edwards, N.Y. driver in the B&F General Machine DIRT 358 Modified was worth $1,500.
Ken Johnson raced out to the early lead at the start of the Hofmann Hot Haus DIRT 358 Modified feature from the pole starting position. Ken Johnson would only lead the opening circuit. Multi-time Fulton Speedway Track Champion Dale Planck took the top spot away from Ken Johnson on lap two. Planck would lead the 27-car starting field through lap four.
J.J. Michaels became the third different leader of the race on lap five. Once in front Michaels was able to open up a slight lead and after ten laps he was being followed in the top five by Planck, Don Spatorico, Justin Haers and Fuller. Michaels would lead the field through lap 15. On the 16th circuit Fuller took the top spot away from Michaels.
At the halfway point of the main event Fuller was being chased by Alan Johnson, Michaels, Spatorico and Matt Sheppard. A classic two car battle for the lead bewteen Fuller and Alan Johnson thrilled the fans. Alan Johnson finally took the top spot away from Fuller on 22. Fuller stayed right with Johnson and a good race was still on.
That all changed on lap 27 when Johnson was forced pitside with mechanical problems. Fuller took advantage and went on to the feature win. Don Spatorico recorded his best ever Fulton Speedway finish with a strong second place effort. Defending Track Champion Matt Sheppard finished third and was able to cut into the point lead of Alan Johnson. Michaels and Planck completed the top five feature finishers.
Daryl Hagen won his second DIRT Sportsman feature of the season last Saturday night. Jeremy Pitcher, Tim Sears, Jim Livingtson and Mike Button completed the top five feature finishers behind Hagen. Hagen led the entire 20-lap distance for the victory.
