MCKEE WINS SDS STOP AT OCFS

Middletown, NY: Two time defending big block champion Chuck McKee of Middletown, NY scored an impressive victory in the Super DIRT series stop at the Orange County Fair Speedway Thursday night. Starting 6th in the 31 car field, McKee vaulted into the lead on lap 27 of the 100 lap Advance Auto Parts Series event.

The first caution didn't appear until lap 60 for a Todd Burley flat tire. By lap 75, Brett Hearn, starting 12th, challenged McKee for the lead, but McKee held his ground. An additional two cautions - on laps 88 and 92 for the disabled cars of Billy Decker and Steve Paine, gave Hearn two more chances. McKee held off the former multi time OCFS champion to record his 3rd win of the season and his 2nd in a row.

Additionally, McKee took over the point lead by 15 markers from season long point leader Jeff Heotzler who finished 10th.

Super DIRT Series point leader Alan Johnson was 3rd followed by pole-sitter Danny Johnson and Tim McCreadie.

In the companion 97 Oldies Radio Pure Stock feature of 215 laps, Ron Irvin of Hyde Park, NY moved another step closer to the track championship taking his 8th win of the season.

Sears and Craftsman tools presented the Pit challenge to the top six time trialers. Brett Hearn's crew picked up the $1,000 with the fastest time while Vic Coffey finished 2nd for $400 and Billy Decker was 3rd for $100.
