WILSON TURNS THE CLOCK BACK AT ORANGE COUNTY

Middletown, NY: It was a nostalgic night at the Orange County Fair Speedway as long time veteran Bill Wilson of Ramsey NJ won "The Botanical"- A Day Spa 30 lap big block feature. Wilson, who last won a feature at OCFS in August of 1980, led wire to wire from his outside pole starting position to claim his 5th career win. Bruce Kline, who has won two events here this season, had nothing for the veteran who is in his 6th decade of competition. Tommy Meier and Jerry Higbie were 3rd and 4th. With his 5th place finish, Chuck McKee of Middletown, NY clinched his 2nd consecutive big block title. Brett Hearn was involved in a turn 4 melee on lap two, came back a lap down and then retired to the pits ending his title hopes.

Hearn, of Vernon, NJ did capture his 3rd small block feature of the season winning the Goldenarea Furniture 25 lap event. With point leader Andy Bachetti of Sheffield, Ma. finishing 4th, Bachetti leads Tim Hindley by 12 and Hearn by 17 points going into this week's point season finale. Hindley was 2nd followed by Chris Shultz. Tommy Meier rounded out the top five.

Joe Sarvis of Tappan, NY won for the first time in nearly a year in the DIRT Sportsman division taking the 20 lap event over Kevin Paffenroth, Frank Cristiano, Jesse Marks, and Jimmy Johnson. Mark Hufcut of Pine Bush, NY leads Scott Ferrier by 17 and Johnson by 23 markers as they head into the last point race of the season.

John Bryson of Croton Falls, NY won the 14 lap Expert Pro Stock feature that saw the race leaders tangle while battling for the top spot. It was the first of the year for Bryson. Andy Dembek, Jr. of Middletown, NY clinched the point title with his 4th place finish. For Dembek, it was his first title since winning the Rookie class crown in 1995. The rookie class feature was taken by Norbert Bracklow of Olive Bridge, NY. It was the first ever win for the second year driver. Glenn Cargain of Dover Plains, NY leads Pete Goydich by 13 points with one point race left.

The Pure Stock feature saw Mitch Frank of Waldwick, NJ win for the 3rd time this season. However, the championship was decided last week as Al D'Antonio of Highland, NY won his 2nd class title.

Craig Westerfield took a commanding lead in the Chet's Garage Championship Enduro series as he won his 2nd event after tying for a 3rd. Their final event is scheduled for September 8th.

Championship night is scheduled this Saturday night with all regular classes in action. The Modifieds will go 35 laps while the 358's go 25. Racing begins at 6:30 pm.
