PAINE AGAIN IN 358'S, FRED BUCKLEY TAKES REGIONAL TRUCK 30 LAPPER AT BLACK ROCK

DUNDEE, NY………Steve Paine continues his winning ways at the Black Rock Speedway, as he pulled down another win in the 358 Modified division. Fred Buckley was the big winner in the Regional International Inc. special 30 lap feature for the Pro-Truck division. Dave Fultz continues his march toward a second consecutive championship in the PPG Super-Stocks with another win in this division. In 4 Cyl. Stock racing, Karl Weichenthal, and Tim Povoski were repeat winners, as was Raymond Speicher in the Black Rock Bandits.

If yellow is your favorite color, then last Friday nights Modified feature was just the thing for you. Once again there were several yellow flags beginning the event and the car that won was also yellow. To start the event, Kenny Johnson spun in turn one. Ron White took the early lead on the next start. On lap three there was pile up on the front stretch that involved Rich Swarthout, Tim Sebring, Ken Johnson, Gil Teg, and Donnie Lawson. Lawson was not able to continue as he hit the wall and badly damaged the #18. In turn two on the re-start, there was another tangle, this time involving, Alex Hoag, Derrick Podsiadlo, Chuck Graham, Jim Roberts, and Gil Tegg Jr. On the third start, Stacy Jackson and Ron White were fighting for the lead, but the "Hurricane" was coming, and was up to sixth by lap five after starting 21st! Lap nine saw Steve Paine in the second spot and he was chasing the leader Ron White. On lap 12 in turn one Paine took the top spot, and ran away and hid for the rest of the event. The race for second through 4th was a good one between Ron White, Stacy Jackson and a hard charging Charlie Donk. When the checkers came down, it was Steve Paine across the line for another win. Stacy Jackson got second, third was Charlie Donk, fourth went to Ron White, and Brian Swarthout filled out the top five. Heats were won by, Aaron Jacobus, Charlie Donk, and Stacy Jackson.

Chris McCann took the early lead, but on lap 2 his 4JM stopped on the speedway. On the re-start, Randy Eggleston spun his 07 in front of the field. As the race resumed, Rob Conklin was leader with Carl Cleveland and Dave Fultz close behind. These top three drivers were putting on a great race for the lead. Alan Crooker took over the fourth spot at the half way mark. Also at this point, Rob Conklin's bad luck continued, as his 75X slowed on the back stretch. On the next re-start, Dave Fultz took over the lead. Once in front, Fultz began to pull away. There was however, a great battle going on for second between Carl Cleveland, and Alan Crooker. At the checkers, it was Dave Fultz in for another victory, and Alan Crooker capped off a great drive by beating Carl Cleveland to the line for second, fourth was Quinn Sutherland, and Rich Karlnoski filled out the top five. Heats were won by Dave DuBois, and Quinn Sutherland.

Regional International Inc., the sponsors of the Pro-Truck division, were on hand on this night as an event sponsor, and they presented a 30 lap feature for the trucks. Doug Buckley and Eddie Machuga raced for the early lead in this big event, but there was trouble early as Tom Kessler's #54 showed a lot of smoke and stopped in turn one on the second lap. Don Divens also went pitside with an over heating problem on his #28, it seems, all the belts came off the engine of his machine. Eddie Machuga took the lead on the re-start, but he wasn't there for long, as coming out of turn four on lap 6, his #87 developed a mis-fire, and his race was run! This put Fred Buckley in the lead with Jeff Barner and Tom Austin close behind. At the half way mark, Fred Buckley was still the leader, with Jeff Barner, Tom Austin, Steve Brace and Doug Buckley filling out the top five. One lap later, Barner and Brian Doolittle

got together in turn 4. Buckley remained in front to the checkers, but there was a great battle for second between Tom Austin and Steve Brace. Brace took second, and Austin was third, fourth went to, Doug Buckley, and Brian Doolittle was fifth. Heats were won by,Eddie Machuga, and Tom Austin.

In 4 Cyl. Stock racing, Karl Weichenthal took the win in the first of two features for this division. He took the lead on lap six and cruised home for his 6th win of the season. Terry Povoski was second third was Alfy Clark, Kevin Young was fourth, and Eddie Mills filled out the top five.

In the second feature for the four bangers, Tim Povoski took the win after a 13th lap yellow closed up the field and allowed him to get around Ryan Davenport. Davenport held on for second, third was Phil Yaw, fourth was Willie Grant Jr., and Eddie Crawford filled out the top five. Heat winners were, Jason White, Karl Weichenthal, Gene Dupuy, and Tim Povoski.

Ray Speicher continues his winning ways in the Black Rock Bandits division as he picked up his fifth win of the season. Laverne Knickerbocker III just beat Justin Divens to the checkers for second, fourth was Derek Mills and Brent Ayres filled out the top five.
