STEVE PAINE, DAVE FULTZ, AND FRED BUCKLEY WIN AT BLACK ROCK

DUNDEE, NY …… Steve Paine continues his winning ways in the Black Rock Speedway 358 Modified division, Dave Fultz picked up his first win of the season in the PPG Super-Stocks, and Fred Buckley got his second win of the season in the Regional International Pro-Trucks. In the NAPA 4 Cyl. Stocks, Mike Jackson, and Karl Weichenthal were winners in the regularly scheduled events, and Skip Dean and Karl Weichenthal were victorious in the re-scheduled 4 Cyl. Features from June 1st. Jon Wallenbeck was the winner in the Black Rock Bandits feature event.

John Moravec took the win in the 15 lap Modified B-Main, coming from last to first!

Chuck Kennison took the early lead in the Modified feature on Chapel Lumber Night. But there was a tangle in turns 3 and 4 on lap two that involved the cars of Stacy Jackson, Dan Mathews, Bryon Turner, and Scott Benedict. Steve Paine was the benefactor of this, as he was able to go from his 17th starting position to seventh. On the re-start, young third generation driver Alex Hoag took the point aboard his brand new 2001 Teo-Pro chassis #7H. He quickly began to pull away from the rest of the field. However, the "Hurricane" was coming in a hurry, and was up to second on lap eight. This set up a battle between the young talent, and the old pro. Hoag and Paine raced side by side for two laps before Paine took the lead on lap 10 in turn three. Charlie Donk was also on the move, and he was in third by lap 12. At the halfway point it was Paine with the lead, Hoag second, Donk third, Gil Tegg fourth and Todd Henderson fifth. Paine began to pull away, and Donk began to catch Hoag. This set up a great battle between Hoag and Donk, that would see Donk finally get past Hoag to take second on lap 23. With the double checkered flags in the air, it was Paine in for yet another win, Charlie Donk was second, Alex Hoag third, fourth was Gil Tegg Jr., and Todd Henderson filled out the top five. Heats were won by, Paine, Donk, and Hoag.

In the Modified B-Main, John Moravec started last on the grid, but at the end of the 15-lap event he was in victory lane. Filling out the list of qualifiers from the race were, Derrick Podsiadlo, Ron White, Jeff Baroody, Brian Polmanteer, and Dave Yehl.

In the PPG Super-Stocks Dave Fultz took his first win of the 2001 season, after Chris Daugherty suffered a flat tire while in the lead. Once out in front Fultz was able to pull away from the rest of the field. Lap 16 saw the field close up, as the 55x of Rich Karlnoski stopped on the backstretch. Fultz was able to maintain the top spot while a battle was going on for second between Quinn Sutherland and Mike Carapella. At the line it was Dave Fultz in for the popular win. Quinn Sutherland took second, third was Carl Cleveland, fourth went to Mike Carapella, and Larry Knowles filled out the top five. Heats were won by, Kevin Chilson, Quinn Sutherland, and Chris Daugherty.

Fred Buckley took his second win of the year in the Regional International Pro-Trucks, as he grabbed the lead in turn three on the sixth lap. Behind him Ron Divens and Steve Brace battled for second and third. Buckley began to pull away from the filed, and by lap 13 he had a several truck length lead over Divens and Brace. The last few laps saw Divens starting to catch the leader, and Buckley and Ron Divens raced side by side to the checkers with Buckley taking the exciting win. Divens got a close second, third was Tom Austin, fourth was Steve Brace, and Bob Buono was fifth. Heats were won by, Tom Austin and Don Divens.

It was another busy night for the NAPA 4 Cyl. Stocks as four features were on the card. Two regular features, plus two make up races from June 1st. In the first regular feature, Mike Jackson took the lead on lap five and held on for his second win of the season. Kenny Hunt drove his best race so far, and finished second. A hard charging Phil Yaw took second, third was Mike Hughey, fourth went to Jack Ayers, and Scott Bradley was fifth.

In the first of two features rescheduled from June 1st for the 4 Cyl. Stocks, Karl Weichenthal took the lead at the half way mark and went in to record his second win of the night.
