STEVE PAINE AND CHARLIE DONK TAKE MODIFIED WINS AT BLACK ROCK

DUNDEE, NY…Steve Paine and Charlie Donk took Modified wins at Black Rock Speedway last Friday night. Other winners included, Quinn Sutherland and Dale Welty in the PPG Super-Stocks, Eddie Machuga took the Big 50 lap Pro-Truck feature. A.J. Potrzebowski, and Chuck Leasure were the winners in the NAPA 4 Cyl. Stocks while Josh Mills took the win in the Black Rock Bandits.

In the Modified feature re-scheduled from June 1st, Tim Sebring took the point early, but as usual, Steve Paine and Charlie Donk and Steve Paine were on the move quickly. By lap six Donk was racing with Gil Tegg for third. Paine was flying up through the field, and was up to third by lap 12. On a lap 13 re-start, Gil Tegg was in the lead, with Tim Sebring second, Donk third, and Paine was fourth. Donk got around Sebring, and set his sights on Tegg. Donk and Tegg then hooked up in a great two car battle for the lead. On lap 18 in turn two Tegg had to check up behind a car that ducked into the pits, and Donk took the lead and went on to record the popular win. Tegg Held on for second, third was Steve Paine, fourth went to Tim Sebring, and Bryon Turner was fifth.

In the regularly scheduled Modified main, young talent, Alex Hoag jumped out to the early lead, but on the next circuit, another youngster took the lead, and that was Aaron Jacobus. These two drivers put on a great run at the top of the field for several laps, but the veterans were on their way. By lap 10 Paine was 7th and Donk was 8th. At the half way point it was Jacobus was the leader, Hoag was second, third was Tim Sebring, Derrick Podsiadlo was fourth, and Paine fifth. Lap 16 saw the 7H mount of Alex Hoag slide off the bank in turn four. By lap 20 Steve Paine was up to second and challenging Jacobus for the lead. The youngster was able to hold off the veteran until lap 23 when Jacobus went high in turn four, and that's all Paine needed to sweep by and take the lead and the win. Charlie Donk followed Paine across the line, third was Tim Sebring, fourth was Jacobus, and Derrick Podsiadlo fifth. Heats were won by, Jacobus, John Moravec, and Bryon Turner.

In the rescheduled PPG Super-Stock feature from June 1st, Quinn Sutherland took the popular win. He took the lead in turn three on lap 5. Dale Welty was on the move in a hurry and was up to fourth by lap 9. H was to suffer a flat tire four laps later that would drop him to a 12th place finish. As the laps went by in this event, Rich Karlnoski was up to challenge Sutherland for the lead, and Chris Daugherty was a tight third. The top three pulled away from the rest of the field, and as the checkers flew it was Quinn Sutherland in for the win, Karlnoski got second, third was Chris Daugherty, fourth went to Eddie Mills, and Dave Fultz filled up the top five.

In the regular Super-Stock feature, Dale Welty was back in winning form as he took the lead on a lap 7 re-start, and had a race long battle with Quinn Sutherland. Sutherland was looking for his second win of the night, but it was not to be as a determined Welty was hungry for the win. These two drivers raced side by side for many laps, but at the wire it was Welty taking the win, Dave Fultz was second, third was Chris Daugherty, Quinn Sutherland faded to fourth, and a strong running Bill Miller was fifth. Heat winners were, Chris Daugherty, Dave Fultz, and Dale Welty.

The Regional International Pro-Trucks were to do battle for 50 laps in an event sponsored by the series sponsor. Jeff Barner was in charge of the field early in this one, but Doug Buckley, Tom Austin and Eddie Machuga were right with him making a four truck freight train for the lead. Austin put his 88A mount in front on lap 8. He pulled away for a while, but Eddie Machuga was starting to catch him up. Machuga took the lead on lap 14 in turn three. At the half way mark it was Machuga in the lead, second was Tom Austin, third was Jeff Barner, fourth was held by Fred Buckley, and Steve Brace was fifth. Machuga began to pull away from the field, and on lap 31 the motor in Tom Austin's mount expired, and Machuga cruised home for the win. Steve Brace pulled up to second, third was Fred Buckley, fourth was Jeff Barner, and Ron Divens filled out the top five. Heats were won by Doug Buckley, and Jeff Barner.

In the NAPA 4 Cyl. Stocks, there were two first time winners in victory lane! In the first feature, A Jay Potrzebowski took the lead on lap eight, but had to race hard with a hard charging Karl Weichenthal. Potrzebowski was able to hold off all challenges to take the win. Weichenthal was second, third went to Jack Ayres, Ryan Davenport got fourth, and Eddie Crawford was fifth.

In the second feature Chuck Leasure jumped out to the early lead and was able to hold off a hard charging Joe Povoski for his first ever win. Mike Jackson was third, fourth was Jake Clancey, and Jason White was fifth. Heats were won by, Joe Povoski, Jack Ayres, Tim Povoski, and Chuck Leasure.

In the Black Rock Bandits feature event, Josh Mills picked up the win after taking the lead on lap four.
