ZOOMER KRULL

Ransomville, NY...Friday, July 11th, 2003…Billy Zoomer Krull of Wheatfield, NY topped the field aboard the twenty lap Bobcat of Buffalo Patriot Sprint main. Krull grabbed the lead at the get go and held it the entire distance capturing his first win of the season.

Kyle Drum and points leader Billy Krull shared the front row with Krull taking the early lead followed by Drum and Tim Barnard. Krull pulled away from the remainder of the field quickly as the field ran single file through the turns. Rick Wilson broke into the top five on lap four as leader Krull was already breaking into lapped traffic. Jeff Cook did a complete 360 as he spun in turn two and kept going.

Krull continued to dominate the field as he is certainly no stranger to the Ransomville ½ mile. Trouble in turn one for the front runners as Drum spun and collected top five runners Wilson and Phil Mott. Unfortunately for Wilson, his night was done early as he headed pitside on the hook. Krull set the pace on the restart and led the field back to green flag racing. Barnard, Howard Singer, Mike Lauderborn, and Mark Schulz now rounded out the top five.

Krull would continue to show the way as he led the entire twenty-laps capturing the win and padding him points lead. Barnard, Singer, Schulz, and Lauderborn rounded out the top five.

Danny Johnson of Rochester, NY dazzled race fans last Friday night as he went from last to first in the Mighty Taco Modified feature event. The doctor took the top spot on lap twenty-seven and led the remaining three laps to victory.

Rob Pietz took control of the thirty lap go followed by Pete Cosco, Vic Coffey, Ricky Richner, and Chad Brachmann. The doctor was on the move as Danny broke into the top ten with a three wide move. Coffey advanced to second on lap two with Richner in tow. Don Spatarico broke into the top five on lap six and quickly moved in to challenge Cosco for the fourth position. Coffey dove under Pietz on lap eight was it was Pietz hanging on in the preferred line. The top two started to put some distance between themselves and the remainder of the field as the first caution flew for Scott Wood who spun in turn one. Robbie Krull and Mark Golding were both collected.

The double file restart found Pietz chose the outside lane for the restart and maintain the top spot. Coffey challenged once again on the bottom as Spatarico watched in third. Brachmann and Richner rounded out the top five with Danny Johnson moving into sixth. Spatarico moved in to challenge Coffey and took over the second position. Johnson challenged Brachmann for fourth and used a slide job to take over the top spot with slight contact being made. Spatarico must have looking in his rearview mirror (not really…they don't have them) as he mirrored Danny's move and took over the lead with a slide job on Pietz. As Spatarico looked for his first win of the season mechanical woes hampered his run as he headed pitside on lap twenty-four. Pietz inherited the lead back as Johnson moved by Coffey for second. Johnson took to the bottom of Pietz on lap twenty-six but it was Pietz hanging on. Johnson once again moved to the bottom of Pietz and this time made it work as he took control on lap twenty-seven…ironic huh?? Johnson captured his second win in a row followed by Pietz, Coffey, Rich Vinson, and Pete Bicknell.

Scott George took his third win of the season aboard the Original Pizzas Logs Sportsman ranks and padded his lead in the points battle last Friday night. George took over the top spot on lap twelve and was never seriously challenged after that point.

John Smith led the early going but it was teenage sensation Stewart Friesen on a mission as he took over the top spot on lap five. Friesen quickly pulled away from the field which found the top five to be Smith, Rob Kott, Kevin Wills, and Scott George. The first caution flew on lap eight as Doug Coons spun in turn one. Friesen led the field to the restart as Wills emerged to second. George moved in to challenge Wills and took over the second position on lap twelve as the caution flew for the second time. This put two of Ransomvilles top Sportman entries side by side with Friesen choosing the outside lane. Wills, Jeff McGinnis, and Tony Purgarich rounded out the top five.

On the restart it was George taking over the lead as the field went back green. George got the jump on the restart aboard his Original Pizza Logs sponsored machine and slid up in front of Friesen to take the preferred line. Friesen battled back but to no avail as George quickly pulled away from the field. At the checkered it was George in for the win followed by Friesen, Wills, Scott Kerwin, and Purgarich.

Dave Schulz took his fifth win of the season aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo ProStock division. Schulz continued to dominate the class as he took control on lap seventeen and led the remaining three laps aboard his Blue Moon Potatoes sponsored machine.

Butch Zimmerman took control at the get go followed by Kevin House, Steve Lewis, John Panattoni, and Steve Devos. Zimmerman continued to lead as trouble for Panattoni as he headed pitside. Lewis, Devos, Dave Williams, and Mike Williams now rounded out the top five. Current point leader Dave Schulz was on the move as he broke into the top five on lap fifteen. Zimmerman pulled away to a comfortable lead as the field ran the final laps. With just three laps to go, contact up front resulted in Devos going around in turn one. Dan Mayer and Dan Shoop had no where to go and ended up collected. Zimmerman led the pack back to green but once again contact up front this time sent Zimmerman around. Schulz took over the top spot and led the remaining laps to the checkered over Pete Stefanski, Mike Williams, Steve Miller, and Sean Keus.

Dave Stolzenburg Jr. of Olcott, NY was awarded the win in the first Clarks Burgerhouse Streetstock main after Digger Lester was found illegal pitside. It was Stolzenburgs second win of the season.

Eric Ben took control at the start of the first Clarks Burgerhouse Streetstock main. Lester, Wayne Close, John Schultz, and Dave Stolzenburg rounded out the top five. The top three pulled away slightly from the remainder of the field running nose to tail. Ken Washburn was on the move as he advanced into the top three. Washburn moved in to challenge both Lester and Ben on the bottom with the lapped car of Jake Huff directly in front of them. A three wide battle for the lead resulted in contact and mayhem. Ben got the short end of the stick as he ended up looped around and losing a tire in the process. Lester inherited the lead followed by Stolzenburg and Mike Short. Lester continued to show the distance and crossed the line first but as stated was disqualified pitside. Stolzenburg got the win followed by Short, Graham, Schultz and Lucas Jonathon.

Alex Morris of Sanborn, NY captured his third win of the season aboard the second Clarks Burgerhouse Streetstock main event. Morris took control on lap four and showed the quick way around for the remaining distance.

Dave Nichols and Joe Rickard showed the field to the green of the second Clarks Burgerhouse main event with Rickard taking the early lead. Nichols, Webb Nashwinter, Dave Jowdy, and Jaren Israel rounded out the top five. Contact in the front of the pack left Nashwinter looking the wrong direction. As the field went back green, all eyes were on the sky looking for a full moon as once again disaster struck with Jowdy getting the worst end of it. Just six cars remained as the field went back green on lap two. Nichols took over the top spot with Rickard and Baughman battling for second. Alex Morris moved into the battle and took over second on lap four. Morris then piloted his Fish's Automotive sponsored #1f to the checkered and the win. Nichols, Rickard, Roger Israel, and Baughman rounded out the top five. Nichols was disqualified pitside moving the pack up position and Rich Lippart into the top five.

Pitnotes…A total of one hundred and seven cars filled the pit area last Friday night despite the questionable weather conditions. Great to see Tim Murdock back in action at the big R. Pat McCoy and Stewart Friesen put on a great show as they gave the fans a photo finish in heat action with McCoy taking the win. Mark Schulz did double duty as he competed in both the Sportsman and Sprint car events. Congratulations to Ransomville regular Chad Brachmann as he enjoyed a very successful week aboard the Turning Stone Casino 358 Modified Super DIRT Series.
