RANDY CHRYSLER
Ransomville, NY...It was a great night for racing last Friday night as Blue Moon Potatoes presented a 30 lap ProStock championship event along with a full card. Dave Schulz of Somerset, NY captured his second Bobcat of Buffalo ProStock feature this season aboard his Blue Moon Potatoes sponsored machine.
Scott Gribben led the field down for the start of the ProStock main event followed by Steve Lewis, John Panattoni, Mike Williams, and Dan Shoop. Lewis and Panattoni made their way by Gribben with Panattoni emerging as the leader on lap four. Panattoni put some distance between himself and Williams who had taken over the runner up position. Lewis, Pete Stefanski, and Gribben rounded out the top five on lap eight.
Panattoni set the pace on the restart with Williams in tow. These two put on a great side by side battle as Stefanski watched in third. Roger Chrysler and Dave Schulz broke into the top five by lap eleven as the top two continued to run side by side. You could have put a blanket over the top five as they ran in a tight pack. Stefanski took over the top spot on lap sixteen with Schulz following suit. A caution on lap twenty-one bunched up the field.
Stefanski set the pace on the restart with Schulz a tight second. Lap twenty-three found Schulz look to the outside of Stefanski as they came off turn four and take over the top spot. Schulz showed the field the fast way around and went on for his second win in as many weeks. Stefanski, Panattoni, Chrysler, and Williams rounded out the top five.
Rookie contender Randy Chrysler of the Tuscarora Nation topped the Mighty Taco Modified field last Friday night and captured his first ever 358 modified victory. Chrysler took the lead away from Brian Stevens on lap two and led the remaining circuits aboard his Randys Smoke Shop sponsored Bicknell chassis.
Stevens grabbed the early lead with Chrysler a strong second. Chrysler had his 21k entry dialed in as he took over the number one position on lap three. Scott Kreutter lost the handle in turn one collecting the cars of Rob Pietz, Mark Golding, and Billy Krull on lap four. Chrysler set the pace on the restart and maintained the top spot over Stevens, Ricky Richner, Chad Brachmann, and Danny Johnson. Brachmann moved into second aboard his Original Pizza Logs sponsored mount on lap five with Johnson in tow. Brachmann moved into challenge Chrysler as these two past Sportsman track champions battled for the lead in the Modified ranks. Chrysler was able to hold onto the lead as Johnson pulled in Brachmann. Robbie Krull and Richner rounded out the top five.
As the field reached the half way mark Chrysler continued to show the way with Brachmann and Johnson battling for second. Johnson took a look to the inside of Brachmann and took over the runner up position on lap eighteen. Chrysler pulled in on lap traffic with ten laps left. As starter Jipp Ortiz indicated five to go, Johnson pulled in on the back bumper of Chrysler. The final circuit found Johnson giving it one last try to no avail as Chrysler took the win followed by Johnson, Krull, Brachmann, and Vinson.
Scott George of Wilson, NY had a great run last Friday night aboard his Original Pizza Logs sponsored Sportsman entry as he went from the last starting position to claim the win in the twenty-five lap main. It was George’s first win of the season aboard the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman division.
Rob Kott led at the drop of the green but it was short lived as contact by several cars back in the pack brought out the caution. Top runners Jeff McGinnis, Scott Kerwin, and Dave Just were all involved and headed pitside as a result. Kerwin and McGinnis were able to return without losing a lap. Kott maintained the top spot on the restart with Doug Coons, Stewart Friesen, Mark Schulz, and Dave Kubiniec rounding out the top five. Friesen moved into second on lap two and set his sights on Kott. Friesen looked to the bottom of Kott as they came off turn four and took the lead on lap five. Schulz followed suit taking over the second position one lap later.
A caution on lap ten bunched up the field with Friesen choosing the outside lane on the restart. Friesen may have found the outside lane to his liking however it was Schulz with the advantage as they entered turn one. Friesen, Tony Purgarich, George, and Kott rounded out the top five. Schulz quickly pulled away by a large margin as the powerplant in the Friesen mount went sour. Schulz led the field down for the restart and maintained the top position over George, Purgarich, Kott, and McGinnis. George looked to the top side of Schulz on lap twenty-one and took over the lead. George went on for his first win of the season followed by Schulz, Kott, McGinnis, and Purgarich rounded out the top five.
Joe Rickard was declared the winner of the Street Stock race after after Mike Short was found illegal in post race tech.
Short grabbed the early lead followed by Dave Stolzenberg, Webb Nashwinter, Joe Rickard, and Alex Morris. Contact between Nashwinter, Rickard, and Morris resulted in Nashwinter and Morris dropping several positions. Short continued to pull away from the field as Stolzenberg and Rickard battled for second. Morris brought out the first caution as he found himself looking the wrong way on the front stretch. Bad luck continued for Stolzenberg who headed pitside with mechanical woes. Short maintained the lead on the restart and continued on for the big win. Rickard, Lester, Dan Baughman, and Nashwinter rounded out the top five.
Jaren Israel of Wilson, NY won his second feature main in as many weeks aboard the second Clarks Burgerhouse Streetstock feature main. Israel took the lead away from Dave Nichols on lap four and was never seriously challenged after that point.
Nichols led the field down for the start grabbing the early lead with Israel, Eric Ben, John Dietz, and John Schultz rounding out the top five. Israel quickly pulled in on Nichols and looked to the inside on lap four. Contact into turn one resulted in Israel taking the lead over Nichols, Ben, Schultz, and Dietz. Debris in turn one brought out the caution on lap five. Israel chose the outside lane for the restart and held on to the lead as Nichols and Schultz battled side by side for the runner up position. Israel maintained the top spot through the final circuits and took the checkered followed by Schultz, Nichols, Ben, and Roger Israel.
