Scott Wood
Ransomville, NY...After two weeks of mother nature claiming victory, Ransomville Speedway was able to get one in the books on a great spring night. Thomson Terminals and Labatts enjoyed a quick racing surface, plenty of racing action, and a packed house as they were the presenting sponsors.
Scott Wood of St. Catharines, Ontario topped the field aboard the Mighty Taco Modified feature main last Friday night. Wood held off a last lap challenge by former Mr. DIRT Danny Johnson for the fifty lap feature win.
Todd Gordon led the early laps followed by Brian Stevens, Randy Chrysler, Tim Murdock, and Mark Golding. Stevens and Scott Wood made their way into the top five and battled tooth and nail for the third position as Gordon and Chrysler pulled away by lap fifteen. Wood was able to take the third position as the caution flew for Larry Lampman and Sam Crogan who came together in turn one.
The restart found Gordon choosing the outside lane aboard his Blue Moon Potatoes sponsored machine. Gordon was able to hold off a hard charging Chrysler followed by Wood, Murdock, and Russ Zimmerman. Wood challenged Chrysler for second on lap eighteen and took over the position. Wood quickly pulled in on Gordon and made his way into the number 1 position. Vic Coffey and Danny Johnson were making their way into the top five.
Johnson continued his charge to the front and into second place but he had a long way to go to reel in Wood. Johnson closed the gap ever so slightly as the final laps clicked away. A bonzai move into the moat helped Johnson to close even more. As the final three laps clicked off, Wood and Johnson gave the fans their monies worth as they fought for the win. As the checkereds flew, Johnson looked to the inside but to no avail as Wood held on for his first win at Ransomville and fourth of the season. Johnson, Pete Bicknell, Coffey, and Robbie Krull rounded out the top five.
Kevin Wills
Kevin Wills of Ransomville, NY captured his first win of the season aboard the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman twenty-five lap main last Friday night. Wills took the lead away from Rob Kott on lap sixteen and led the remaining laps enroute to the big win.
Dave Kubiniec led the field down for the green flag and held the top spot followed closely by Rob Kott. The action was heavy through the field as many side by side duals ensued. Mark Potter and Scott George moved through the field and into the top five just after half way. Kott took over the top spot on lap six with Wills in tow. Kott and Wills ran nost to tail as the laps dwindled down. With just under ten laps remaining, Wills took to the highside of Kott and took over the top spot. Following Wills across the finish line were Potter, George, Kott, and Dave Just.
Dave Schulz
Dave Schulz picked up his first feature win of the season aboard the Bobcat of Buffalo ProStock feature aboard his Blue Moon Potatoes sponsored #12s. Schulz made a great move to the inside of Mike Williams coming off turn two for the winning pass.
Williams took the lead aboard the ProStock main at the drop of the green followed by Schulz, Steve Lewis, Scott Gribben, and Pete Stefanski. Schulz quickly pulled in on the back bumper of Williams by lap four and challenged for the lead. Williams was able to maintain the top spot as Stefanski pressured Schulz for second. Stefanski was able to make the pass on lap ten as the top three pulled away. Unfortunately for Stefanski, his motor went sour with just a hand full of laps remaining and he headed pitside. Schulz pulled in Williams on the final circuit and made the pass for the win. Williams held on for second followed by Dan Mayer, Steve Miller, and John Schulz.
Jaren Israel of Wilson, NY took his first feature win of the season aboard the first Clarks Burgerhouse Streetstock main. Israel looked strong early in the evening as he won his qualifying heat as well. Jaren took over the top spot on lap two and led from that point on.
Jaren Israel
Dave Stolzenberg took the early lead followed closely by Eric Ben, Israel, Alex Morris, and Digger Lester. Stolzenberg's lead was short lived however as he lost his transmission coming off turn four on lap two. Israel inherited the lead and maintained the top spot. The battle was on for the runner up spot as Ben and Morris battled side by side. Dave Jowdy and Wayne Close rounded out the top five. Contact between Ben and Morris resulted in Ben slightly collecting the guardrail. Morris was sent tail for his part in the incident. Israel continued to set the pace with Lester now in second. At the checkered it was Israel in for the win followed by Lester, Close, Jowdy, and Dan Baughman.
Roger Israel
It was a family affair as Jaren Israel's father Roger captured the win in the second Clarks Burgerhouse Streetstock main. Israel took the lead just after half way and held it through the checkered for his second win of the season.
John Dietz held the led at the start of the second feature main followed by Joe Rickard, Israel, John Schultz, and Mike Short. The top five ran nose to tail through lap three as they negotiated lap traffic early on. Dietz, Rickard, and Israel put on a great show for the fans as they battled for the lead position at half-way. Three wide action between Dietz, Schultz, and Israel resulted in leader Dietz going around on the back stretch. Schultz was sent tail for his part. Israel emerged as the leader and showed the way the remainder of the feature. Rickard, Matt Gillingham, Webb Nashwinter, and Ken Washburn rounded out the top five.
