DANNY JOHNSON, JEFF MCGINNIS, MIKE WILLIAMS, DEREK SMITH, AND RICK GORHAN

CAPTURE WINS AT RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY

Danny Johnson took top honors last Friday night aboard the Mighty Taco Modified feature driving his Roaring Twenties sponsored Troyer machine. After taking the lead away from Rich Vinson on lap eighteen, Johnson then held off Mr. Smallblock Pete Bicknell for the win. Rich Vinson, Brian Stevens, and Vic Coffey rounded out the top five.

Vinson took the lead at the drop of the green in the thirty lap event followed by Robbie Krull. Vinson and Krull ran side by side for several circuits before Krull nudged ahead on lap seven only to lose the top spot to Vinson again on lap sixteen. Johnson’s move came on lap eighteen as he took the lead. Johnson and Bicknell put on a great show for the fans as they diced it out for the final five circuits prior to Johnson taking his second win of the season. Heat winners were Chad Brachmann and Krull.

The DIRT Sportsman feature event provided fans with their monies worth as a photo finish between Jeff McGinnis and Mark Potter forced officials to go to the video replay to determine the winner. After a careful review of the tape, Jeff McGinnis was awarded with the feature win by sheer inches over Potter. Unfortunately for Potter, he failed to make weight pitside and was disqualified. Scott George inherited second followed by Rob Kott, Randy Chrysler, and StewartFriesen. Heat winners were Wills and Potter.

Aboard the Ransomville NAPA Pro Stock feature, it was Mike Williams taking his first win of the season. Williams took the lead away from Dan Mayer on lap 8 and maintained the top position from that point on. Mayer finished a solid second followed by Pete Stefanski, Dave Schulz, and Scott Kerwin. Heat winners were Kerwin and John Panattoni.

Rick Gorhan of Ransomville, NY captured his first win of the season aboard the first Fish’s Automotive Streetstock feature. Gorhan took the lead on a lap 4 restart from Dave Jowdy and quickly distanced himself from the remainder of the field winning by almost a straight away over Dave Jowdy, Don Barnes, John Dietz, and Webb Nashwinter. The beginning laps of the fifteen circuit event found many top cars go by the wayside including Jerry Condren with damage suffered when he collected the spinning Webb Nashwinter car and Cory Sawyer who retired with motor woes.

Derek Smith became the ninth different winner aboard the Fish’s Automotive Streetstock division after claiming the win aboard the second feature event. Smith took the lead away from Tim Young on lap eight and led the way from that point on. Kirk Tuttle came home second followed by Dave Nichols, Dan Baughman, and Wayne Close. Heat winners were Tuttle, Gorhan, and Jowdy.

The Ladies race was won by Debra Baughman aboard the Dan Baughman #8 Streetstock.

Coming up this Friday includes a full card of racing, autograph night, and a 30 lap Pro Stock championship presented by Blue Moon Potatoes and Bobcat of Buffalo. Gates will open at 5 pm in the grandstands and 6 pm in the pit area with racing slated for 7:15.
