CAPTURE CHECKERS AT RANSOMVILLE
Ransomville, NY…Another cool night resulted in an awesome track and exciting racing last Friday night at Ransomville Speedway. Many didn’t think opening nights Mighty Taco Modified feature could be topped but it was as an incredible battle took place the remaining five laps between Vic Coffey and Danny Johnson. At the checkered it was Coffey taking the win in the 30 lap main.
The beginning laps were led by Rick Hoctor before Mark Sylvies took over the top spot just before half way. Sylvies showed the fast way around for several circuits before two of DIRT’s stars-Coffey and Johnson- moved by. Sylvies held off rookie Greg Panunte for third while Todd Burley came home fifth. Heat winners were Rich Vinson and Pete Cosco. A total of 22 cars entered the night action.
Rob Kott of Niagara Falls, NY took the lead at the drop of the green and held it the entire twenty laps of the DIRT Sportsman feature to claim the win. Kott held off stiff challenges from Scott George in the final couple of laps for the big win. George came from deep in the pack to post second followed by Rob Ledingham, Stewart Friesen, and Jeff McGinnis. Heat winners were Rob Kott and Ray MacIver. A total of 21 cars entered the nights action.
Dave Williams of Lewiston, NY won his first Pro Stock feature last Friday night in the 20 lap Ransomville NAPA main event aboard his Mighty Taco sponsored Stinger Chassis. Williams, who has been a campaigner in the full fendered division for approximately the last three years, was joined in victory lane by his brother Mike whom also races in the division. Williams took over the top spot from Dan Shoop with just a hand full of laps remaining and led the field to the checkered. Shoop held on for second followed by Mike Williams, Jeff Martin, and Steve Lewis. Heat winners were Dave Williams and Pat McCoy.
Jerry Condren of Youngstown, NY took top honors last Friday night aboard the first Fish’s Automotive Street Stock feature. Condren took control at the drop of the green and was never seriously challenged after that point. Derek Smith, Cory Sawyer, Kenny Washburn, and Rick Gorhan rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Condren, Bobby Clare, and Kirk Tuttle.
Wayne Close of Ransomville, NY was victorious in the second Fish’s Automotive Street Stock feature also leading every lap. Close had to hold off persistent challenges from both Dave Eaton and Don Barnes in the final laps. Eaton held on for second followed by Don Barnes, Kirk Tuttle, and Bobby Clare.
