TOP FIELDS AT RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY
Ransomville, NY…Danny Johnson took top honors aboard the twenty lap Mighty Taco Modified feature sponsored by Patti's Cut Above last Friday night. Johnson benefited from a mis-cue by a lapped car who forced Pete Bicknell high in turn two. Johnson seen the door open and took advantage for the lead. Johnson coasted the remaining few laps home to victory.
Bicknell held on for second while a great race for third between Ricky Richner, VicCoffey, and Brian Stevens ended with Stevens getting the position. Coffey and Richner rounded out the top five. The worst accident of the night took place early in the race when Rich Vinson made contact with Luke Carleton resulting in Carleton taking a wild ride over the turn one guardrail. Carleton was a-okay but the same can't be said for his racer. Heat winners were Bicknell and Richner. A total of twenty modifieds signed in pitside.
Randy Chrysler claimed win in the DIRT Sportsman twenty lap feature go aboard his Randys Smoke Shop Bicknell chassis. Powered by a Pogo Engine, Chrysler took the lead away from John Zimmerman early in the event enroute to his first win of the season at Ransomville. Jeff McGinnis gave Chrysler a run for his money but had to settle for second followed by Mark Schulz, Dave Just, and Stewart Friesen who came from the back twice to post the top five finish. Heat winners were Scott George and Bob Winters. A total of nineteen cars signed in pitside.
Pete Stefanski of Tonawanda, NY took control of the twenty lap Ransomville NAPA Pro Stock feature by the end of lap one and held it to the finish. Heavy pressure was applied by Scott Kerwin for several circuits prior to Stefanski claiming his first win of the season. Kerwin held on for second followed by Jeff Martin, Dave Williams, and Mike Williams. Dave Schulz of Somerset, NY had a real tough night as three separate incidents sent him pitside. Heat winners were DaveSchulz and Dan Mayer. Welcome to Dave McCready and Steve Devos who made their first appearances of the season. A total of nineteen cars were in attendance.
Dave Eaton of Newfane, NY came from the seventh starting position to claim the checkered in the first Fish's Automotive Streetstock feature. Lapped traffic was a major player as Eaton took the lead away from teenage driver Digger Lester on lap 13. Lester was able to hang on for second followed by Jeremy Wilson, Ken Washburn, and Rick Gorhan.
Cory Sawyer of North Tonawanda, NY captured his second feature of the season aboard the second Fish's Automotive Streetstock feature event. Sawyer took the lead away from Bobby Clare around the mid-way portion and then held off persistent challenges by John Schultz who came home in second. Wayne Close, Don Barnes, and Bobby Clare rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Gorhan, Tuttle, and Clare. Out for the first time included Dan Baughman, Bryon Lewis, and Aaron Jacobs.
