BICKNELL, JUST, BOYLE, NICHOLS, AND WASHBURN TAKE CHECKEREDS AT RANSOMVILLE
RANSOMVILLE, Friday, August 17th…Pete Bicknell of St. Catharines, Ont took top honors aboard the Mighty Taco 358 Modified division last Friday night. Bicknell piloted his Zerex sponsored Bicknell chassis to his third win of the season at the big "R" aboard Gippsters Collision and Claytons Floral Designs night.
Don Spatarico took the early lead followed by Robbie Krull, Todd Gordon, Sam Crogan, and Vic Coffey. Bicknell made an early charge into the top five, taking third from Coffey in the early going. A tough break for Krull as he slowed in turn four with mechanical difficulties bringing out the yellow.
The restart found Spatarico choosing the outside lane putting Bicknell alongside on the bottom. The two ran side by side down for the green with Bicknell getting the edge and the lead going into turn 1. Coffey pulled in to challenge Spatarico, taking second. The top two pulled away from the remainder of the field as Danny Johnson and Todd Burley broke into the top five.
The closing laps found Coffey suffer mechanical problems and head pitside under caution. Bicknell would show the way through the remainder of the event with Burley and Johnson battling for second. Johnson took the position at the line followed by Burley, Spatarico, and Billy Krull. Heat winners were Coffey and Gordon.
The Queenston-Lewiston Duty Free Sportsman win went to Dave Just who was piloting his brand new Bicknell chassis. Just was declared the winner after original winner Stewart Friesen was dis-qualified pitside for a weight infraction.
Just led the early stages before Scott George took over the top spot in the middle portion of the race. George showed the way through lap 13 when Friesen made a move on the highside for the lead. Just was also able to make the pass on George for second which ended up being the winning move. Coming home in second was George followed by Jeff McGinnis, Chad Brachmann, and John Hagerman Heat winners were Just, George, and Pete Cosco.
The NAPA Prostock victory went to Jason Boyle who collected his fourth of the season. Boyle piloted his Alfred State/Boyle Boys NAPA sponsored Stinger chassis to the win and closed in ever so slightly on points leader Joe Stefanski. Boyle took the lead away from Roger Chrysler on lap 13 and was never seriously challenged after that point. Pete Stefanski came home in second followed by Mike Williams, Scott Kerwin, and Steve Lewis. Contact early on between Roger Chrylser and Jeff Martin ended a great run for Chrysler who was celebrating his 40th birthday.

Washburn took the lead away from Digger Lester in the early stages and then held off persistent challenges from Joe Rickard for the win.
