STEVENS, CHRYSLER, MARTIN, WEBSTER, AND BUZZARD COLLECT CHECKEREDS AT RANSOMVILLE
RANSOMVILLE, NY...Brian Stevens captured the 30 lap Thomson Terminals sponsored Modified feature event last Friday night at Ransomville. His first win since the non-winners race at the seasons end in 1999, Stevens had the car dialed in as he dominated the later stages of the feature.
Spencerport, NY driver Todd Burley pressured Stevens for the top spot before developing handling problems and dropping back. Robbie Krull posted his personal best for the season as he came home in second. Scott Wood, Burley, and Ricky Richner rounded out the top five.
Points leaders Danny Johnson and Pete Bicknell had their share of problems as Johnson suffered a flat tire early on and cooked a motor in the feature go. Bicknell piloted the Pillsbury #1 entry but suffered from handling problems all night resulting in a eighth place finish.
Vic Coffey became a victim of circumstance after Sam Crogan suffered a broken front end after contact was made on the speedway between himself and Danny Johnson. Coffey was caught up in the maylay and suffered the most damage as he required a cradle pitside. Heat winners were Todd Gordon, Billy Krull, and Brian Stevens. Some twenty-two entries participated in the qualifying heats.
Randy Chrysler captured his first Sportsman feature of the season at Ransomville last Friday night. Driving his Randys SmokeShop, Clarks Burgerhouse sponsored machine, Chrysler took the lead away from John Hagerman on lap 3 and then held off many challenges from Stewart Friesen.
Friesen held on for second followed by Mark Potter, Dean Ferri, and Chad Brachmann. Heat winners were John Hagerman, Pete Cosco, and Dave Just as twenty-one entries signed in pitside.
Jeff Martin collected his first win of the season aboard the 20 lap Prostock event. Martin held off challenges by Tom Walker and Joe Stefanski in the Thomson Terminals sponsored event. Martin had been plaged with engine problems the first few weeks at Ransomville but used Dan Mayer’s machine in order to earn valuable points.
Stefanski advanced the most as he came from deep in the field to record the second position. Following Stefanski across the line were Mark Schulz, Pat McCoy, and Pete Stefanski. Heat winners were Butch Zimmerman, Mark Schulz, and Eric Greenleaf. Greenleaf led the early stages of the Prostock feature.
A scarry moment in the Prostock Consi found seventy-two year old Don Duxbury get t-boned by rookie contender AJ Schultz. Duxbury was transported via ambulance to the local hospital for precautionary measures.
Dave Webster held on for a difficult win aboard the first Street Stock feature event. A race plaged with cautions and even a red flag found Webster taking a close one over Mark Boyer, Patty White, Joe Rickard, and Randy Zimmerman. Don Rappleyea took a wild ride off turn two resulting in him going up and over. Rappleyea emerged a-okay but the same couldn’t be said for his car.
Steve Buzzard found his way back to the winners circle last Friday night aboard the second Street Stock feature event.
