Veteran Chuck Kennison cops Redline Raceway Mod Feature
Friday 6-27. Ageless veteran Chuck Kennison proved he still has what it takes with an impressively dominating run to take the 358 modified feature friday night. At the drop of the green young Donnie Lawson Jr in the 18 took off to a quick lead. After only a few weeks of racing at the Granville Summit oval Lawson has improved steadily and looked to be the early favorite to win! An early caution eliminated Lawson's early cushion. On the restart the Lil' Ol Gunmaker, Chuck Kennison, moved his 9X to the high side and drove around Lawson to take the lead. Meanwhile deep in the pack Don Hart Jr in the X1 was moving to the front in a hurry. At mid-race Tony Harris in the 9-Cat and Brian Malcolm in the 35 began a heated battle that resulted in Harris spinning and Malcolm being relligated to the back of the pack taking both out of contention. As Kennison continued to pull away to a straight away lead Hart picked off cars one by one to move to third. A late race caution set up a two lap scramble to the finish that saw some of the wildest racing of the evening. On the restart Kennison zoomed away to the easy victory as Hart made his way past the 18 to pick up second and Young Lawson held on for an impressive third place finish. Mister Consistancy, Ray McClure, in the FORD #15 ran another smooth and precise race to pull down the fourth position followed by third place point man Mike Schane in the M16. With his second place finish Doh Hart Jr moves back ahead of Dale Welty's #123 in their seesaw battle for the championship. Don't forget about the huge IMCA special race and Enduro race on thursday 7-3 and the early start time of 3PM for the July fouth race. Check out Redlineraceway.Net for more information.
