McCREADIE TOPS CAYUGA COUNTY FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS YEAR

WEEDSPORT, NY...Young Tim McCreadie topped the charts at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway with his second victory of the season at the .375 mile oval in the DIRT Modified division. Joe Beyea won the non-points DIRT Sportsman 20-lap feature, while Tony Buffa won again in the ESDCA Dwarf cars. The night capper, the 40-lap Pit Stop Convenience Store Enduro was won by Bill Juhl. Butch Tittle jumped out in front at the drop of the green to lead Jimmy Phelps, Scott Prentice, and Tim Burnett. Phelps stayed glued to Tittle's rear bumper, as the front duo pulled away from the others to establish a five car advantage.

on lap 14 the yellow flew when Vince Vitale and Matt Sheppard tangled in the first turn. Sheppard's car was towed off and Vitale returned to the battle. The restart saw Tim McCreadie slip low, inside, from his fourth starting position to grab the lead. McCreadie then pulled away from Tittle, by a full half straight away.

Tittle, too, was able to pull away from the field in second. A battle for third between Bob McCreadie, Phelps, Gary Tomkins and Tom Sears Jr. was in full swing.

Danny Johnson slowed on the track with a flat tire on lap 30 to bring out the yellow. The restart saw Tim Fuller hop the wheel of a lapped car causing a seven car pile up in the first turn involving Steve Lead, Chuck Bower, Danny Johnson, Jim Gabriel Jr., Ray Bliss Jr., Billy Decker and Scott Prentice.

Tim McCreadie led the final five lap charge to the checkers followed by Gary Tomkins, who passed Tittle on the final restart for the runner-up position. Tittle finished third followed by Bob McCreadie and Jimmy Phelps.

The 20-lap Sportsman feature went green-to-checkers. Jim Spano took command of the race at the drop of the green from his pole starting spot. Spano then proceeded to pull away from Tom Juhl in second with Joe Beyea in third. On lap seven Juhl suddenly pulled into the infield and cut his engine, indicating possible engine problems. This moved Beyea into second with a clear run at the leader.

By lap 12, Beyea had caught Spano and was trying to use lapped traffic to make his move to the front easier. On lap 14, Beyea split the lapped traffic and exited the fourth turn with a better, faster, line for the lead. Beyea then built up a ten car lead over Spano.

At the finish line it was Beyea winning his third Cayuga County Fair Speedway DIRT Sportsman feature of the year. Spano finished second followed by Clayton Brewer, Greg Doust and Rodney Plantz. Beyea averaged 76.688 mph on his way to victory. Tony Buffa took command of the 15-lap ESDCA Dwarf Car feature on lap five following a restart for a yellow caused when pole sitter Steve Miller and outside pole sitter Shawn Hart came together in the second turn. Buffa the proceeded to pull away to win the feature by a full straight away. Dan Boyce, Barry Virts, Todd Simons and Frankie Doll rounded out the top five.

This Sunday will see a complete regular program featuring the DIRT Modifieds and Sportsman plus the Pit Stop Convenience Stores Enduro. Race time will be at 7 p.m., with gates opening a 5 p.m. sharp.
