JOEY GRAMMES CAPTURES VICTORIA 200 WEEKEND QUALIFIER AT LAKE MOC-A-TEK

(Lakeville, Pa.) Kunkletown, Pa.'s Joey Grammes drove his Slug 'n Slam

Construction sponsored #5J to victory in the Mark Gray Automotive

sponsored 358 Modified feature last Saturday night at the Lake Moc-A-Tek

Speedway. Grammes earned the right to represent the Lake Moc-A-Tek

Speedway at the prestigious Victoria 200 Weekend at the Fulton Speedway.

Joey will have a guaranteed starting spot in the All Star Shootout, a

last chance for winners of qualifying races to make their way into the

Victoria 200.

Joey's father Bill Grammes and Ed Strada Jr spent the early laps of

the feature battling for the top spot while Joey ran behind in third.

The race took a major turn on a lap three restart when the two leaders

had problems on the restart that forced both to the rear of the field.

This turned the lead over to Joey Grammes. While Joey would lead the

rest of the way to pick up the win, it was by no means and easy win as

Bill Reese moved to second and put heavy pressure on Grammes all the way

to the checkered flag. Bill challenged Joey all the way, taking a couple

of looks under Joey, but could not make the pass and settled for a solid

runner-up finish. George Hildebrant finished third while Nick Barassi

charged from a consolation starting spot to finish fourth. Don

Hildebrant also qualified through the consolation but made his way

through the field to finish fifth. Bobby Trapper, Gary Griffin, Barry

White, Tom Oleski, and Dom Roselli completed the top ten finishers.

Joe Winne Jr. picked up the win in the Good Cents Auto Sales

sponsored Dash for Cash. Winne led the six lap dash all the way to score

the win over Ed Strada Jr., Dom Roselli,, and Josh Beierle. Winne,

Strada and Beierle made the Cash Dash by winning their respective heat

races while Dom Roselli made the Dash as the current point leader.

Special thanks to Good Cents Auto for sponsoring the Cash Dash.

Sportsman action saw a new face in victory lane as Mike Trautschold

picked up his first career Sportsman victory. Truatschold led all 20

laps of the feature as he took advantage of a front row starting position

to lead every lap of the feature enroute to victory. Trautscold did

receive a challenge from second generation star Jesse Kline as Jesse

pressured Mike, but Mike never wavered. He did have a close call as he

slipped out of the groove exiting the second turn and Kline got

underneath but Mike was able to reassert himself down the backstretch to

pull back into the lead and hold on for a very popular victory. Jesse

kline enjoyed a good runner-up[ finish in only his third start of the

season at Lake Moc-A-Tek. Rookie Mike Loney finished third ahead of

Ricky Rutt and Tom Laner Jr. Current point leader Joey Grammes finished

sixth with Kevin Bates, Mike VanTassel, Troy Moyer, and Steve Kyzer

completing the top ten.

Nick Petrilak came home the winner of the Street Stock feature, the

fourth win of the season for the talented sixteen year old high school

student. Petrilak took the lead from Adam Jones on a lap six restart

and led the rest of the way aboard his Steve Melnick's Northeast Ford

sponsored entry. Jones turned in a season's best effort to pick up the

runner-up finish ahead of Joe Krisovich, David Luff, and Neil DiBlasi.

Ed Kudrako, Jerry VanTassel, Grant Hilfiger, Greg Buchannon, and Gary

Serch were sixth through tenth respectively.

Frank Bush won his fourth Pure Stock feature of the season, holding

off a determined challenge from Floyd Schmidt to pick up the win.

Schmidt finished second ahead of Keith Villano, Jim Balutis, and Jon

Walsh. Jay Martin finished sixth ahead of Jared Hayes, Ron Blake, Jeff

Simko, and Michael Spinks.

Terry Schaffer picked up his ninth feature event win in the 250cc

Micro Sprint feature. Schaffer drove his RTS chassis #2T to the front

early and was never seriously headed the rest of the way. Rich McKay

finished second behind Schaffer trailed by Geoff Quackenbush, Ralph Utter

Jr., and Greg Stevens. Sixth place went to Davie Franek with Stephanie

Stevens coming home seventh. Darrell Cobb, Kevin Nolf, and Michelle

Conway completed the top ten finishing order.

Racing action continues this Saturday night at Lake Moc-A-Tek with a

full five division racing show. The 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, Street

Stocks, Pure Stocks, and 250cc Micro Sprints will all be in action with

qualifying events in all classes leading up to five big feature races.

Racing begins at 6 PM sharp with hot laps at 5PM. Pit and grandstand

gates open at 3 PM. For more information, contact the speedway office at
