Dave Camara Makes Triumphant Return To Devil's Bowl Speedway

WEST HAVEN, Vt. - It didn’t Dave Camara long to find his way back to victory

lane at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Camara, who lives about 10 minutes from the

speedway, made a triumphant return to the track Sunday night by winning the

season opening 35-lap modified feature. Camara hasn’t run at the Bowl on a

steady basis for the last three years, spending his time traveling around

the Northeast, but this season, he’s back at the Bowl on a full-time basis

in his quest for the overall Champlain Valley Racing Association point

championship.

And if Sunday night’s opener is any indication, he’s going to be the man to

beat.

After an expensive third-place finish Friday night at Albany-Saratoga

Speedway night, in which he did heavy damage to his modified in a heat race,

Camara was the class of the field Sunday night at Devil’s Bowl. After

starting seventh by virtue of the redraw for positions, Camara quickly got

to the front and crossed the finish line ahead of modified rookie Tim LaDuc,

who won the sportsman division title at the Bowl last season. Ken Tremont

Jr., behind the wheel of his own No. 115 small block, charged to a

third-place finish, with Jim Ryan fourth and Vince Quenneville Jr. fifth.

Completing the top 10 were Gene Munger, Don Mattison, Bob Savoie, John

Harrison and Chad Miller.

Flying Fred Little used a front-row starting position to win the 20-lap

pro-street stock feature, holding off Dan Madigan, who had started sixth.

They were followed by Joe Santoro, Mike Paquin and Jack Swinton.

Arnie Trudeau drove to his first career hobby stock win at the Bowl while

Ray Fifield won the cruiser division feature. Joseph Sherwood was victorious

in the first enduro of the season.

Devil’s Bowl will be back in action Sunday night with a regular racing card,

and then will switch to a Saturday racing date for the United Speedways of

North America (USNA)-sanctioned Green Mountain 200 on Saturday, June 17.

Advance sale tickets for the Green Mountain 200, which will mark the first

big block race at the speedway since 1984, are now available through the

USNA office at (315) 487-6068. Tickets are priced at $22 for adults, $10 for

children ages 7 to 17 and children 6 and under will be admitted free of

charge.
