Devil's Bowl Speedway

Results for June 11, 2000

WEST HAVEN, Vt. - Twos were wild Sunday night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, as

Dave Camara and Fred Little posted their second consecutive wins of the

season. Camara, tuning up for Saturday night’s United Speedways of North

America (USNA) Green Mountain 200, came from a 12th starting position and

dusted the field to win the 35-lap modified feature. Little completed a

weekend sweep by winning his second straight pro-street stock feature at the

Bowl.

On Friday night, Little had picked up his first win of the season at

Albany-Saratoga Speedway. Camara’s main competition in the modified feature

came from Bob Savoie, who was driving the Tim Groski-owned modified. Savoie

had started seventh in the field, but Camara had the Camara Slate-sponsored

Teo car working perfectly on the tacky Vermont clay and had more car than

Savoie could deal with, forcing Savoie to settle for second. Tim LaDuc ran

a strong third, with Randy Howe fourth and Ray Hoard fifth. Ken Tremont Jr.

was a late arrival at the speedway and was forced to start near the rear of

the modified field. He was then involved in an early jingle, and finished

17th.

Little put on a crowd-pleasing charge to the front in the pro-street

stock feature, and beat Matt Rich to the finish line to get his second

straight victory.

Arnie Trudeau came from deep in the field and won the hobby stock

feature, and Roy Fifield was victorious in the cruiser division.

Devil’s Bowl will be running on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. On

Saturday, the gates will open for the USNA Green mountain 200, the first

appearance of big block modified at the speedway since 1984. Time trials for

the big blocks are scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m., followed by heats,

consolation races and the 200-lap Green Mountain 200.

Camara, who won the Syracuse 200, and Brett Hearn, coming off a win in

the Garden State 200 at Bridgeport Speedway, will head the USNA racing

field. They will be joined by such legendary big block drivers as Jack

Johnson, Jimmy Horton and Kenny Brightbill.

On Sunday, the track will come back with its Father’s Day Special, which

will feature racing for pro-street stocks, hobby stocks, cruisers and an

enduro. Racing on Father’s Day will begin at 4 p.m. Information about any
