ALAN JOHNSON COLLECTS WIN LAST FRIDAY; ALAN AND DANNY NOW TIED IN POINTS BATTLE

Alan Johnson of Rochester, NY took the lead away from his brother Danny Johnson with about 10 laps remaining last Friday night and took the Wisor Polaris 35 lap feature win. This win also put Alan in a tie with Danny for the points championship with just a few points nights left.

Rick Bitterman and George Jowdy shared the front row for the feature start with Bitterman taking the early lead. Rick Hoctor took second followed by Jowdy, Harry Sitler and Robbie Krull. Lap 5 found the first caution fly for Pete Bicknell who spun in turn four.

On the restart, Bitterman set the pace but it was Hoctor taking the lead. Sitler advanced to second, Bitterman fell to third followed by Rich Vinson and Robbie Krull. Sitler wasted no time as he took over the top spot from Hoctor and quickly put some distance between them.

Danny Johnson broke into the top five on lap 9 and continued his quest to the front By lap 13, D. Johnson was in second and began to reel in Sitler. A caution on lap 14 for Brian Stevens who slowed on the front stretch, bunched up the field. For the restart, it was Sitler on the inside and Danny Johnson on the outside. Johnson took the lead followed by Sitler, Vinson, Krull and Wood. Sneaking up from the back of the pack was Alan Johnson who now ran sixth. Alan picked the front runners off one by one and found himself in second by lap 18.

Ron Smoker made his first appearance of the season but suffered a flat tire on lap 18, bringing out the caution. Danny maintained the lead on the restart but his motor starting breaking up bad. Alan took to the outside of Danny on lap 22 and took the lead. Danny battled back but to no avail as his tired motor began to slow. Alan quickly jumped out to a big lead and the win while Danny was able to hold onto second. Rich Vinson, Pete Bicknell and Robbie Krull rounded out the top five.
