MIKE PERROTTE CLAIMS FIRST VICTORY OF SEASON, REPEAT WINS FOR STEVE FRANCIS, JOEL HERNE AND LEE LADOCEUR AT FROGTOWN SPEEDWAY

HOGANSBURG, NY...Mike Perrotte of Plattsburgh, NY becomes the sixth different feature winner in the modified division at Frogtown Speedway this season. Perrotte moved his Adirondak Auto sponsored machine up from 10th starting spot in a field of 24 modifieds. Northern Graphics and Frogtown Hobbies were the evening's sponsors.

Heat winners Billy King and Bill Cook started on the front row and led the pack through 16 laps and 3 cautions. The first caution of the night came on lap 2 catching the two drivers tied for the points lead, Ovide Doiron and Leon Gonyo. Danny O'Brien got sideways, caught the edge of the groove and nearly went over but came back down to rest on the front end of Gonyo's ride. Dave Heaslip and Mike Reyelle were also involved. Everyone was able to return to the race.

Heaslip's bad luck continued when he slammed into the front stretch wall on lap 13 ending his race for the evening. Perrotte moved to the inside to take over second spot from Cook on lap 16. Another tangle on lap 17 caused a red flag caution with Brian McDonald, Joel Doiron, Sandy Roberts, Ovide Doiron, Buck White and Brian Herne getting together.

Perrotte took over the lead on lap 19 with a pass on the outside to get by King. King suffered mechanical problems and slowed with only two laps to go. He ended up finishing 7th. Roy Tarbell with careful passing through the field moved up from 23rd starting position to finish 3rd.

Track workers had poured over 80,000 gallons of water on the track but it quickly dried out in the heat. Perrotte had no complaints saying "I like it dry..there's more room to race".

Steve Francis gained his second late model feature win of his career, both at Frogtown this season. He moved up from 8th starting position and took over the lead from Ron Morin at the halfway point. Morin dropped back allowing Eric Gavreau to move to second. Francis held off charges by Eric Gavreau. The top five finishers were bumper to bumper at the checkers.

Joel Herne dominated the novice feature again with his fifth win of the season. Herne powered by Kaelin Baxter with a pass on the inside to take over the lead on lap 4. Louie Jackson moved up 6 spots to finish second.

Lee Ladoceur took a commanding lead in the Rookie class points with another feature win. Simon Marcoux and Robert Dicare were battling side by side for the lead when Ladoceur slipped between them on lap 2.

Austin Swamp (6-8 year olds) and Jason Reyelle (9-12 year olds) won their heat races in the Kiddies Tire Race. They faced off in the feature with Jason Reyelle winning overall.

Frogtown Hobbies remote control car club took to the track for 2 heats, trucks and modified divisions. Mark Castonguay won the truck division and Ricky Thompson the modified. The feature pitted Castonguay and Thompson in a tight 5 lap race with Thompson taking the checkers.

Racing action continues on Saturday, July 5th with the Cedar View Golf Club - S&S Smoke Shop sponsored regular show for all classes. The evening's performance will include mini sprints and a fireworks show. Racetime is 7:30 p.m.
