SAMMY SWINDELL REPEATS, ACKNER ENDS 15 YEAR DROUGHT

WEST LEBANON, NY- Donnie Ackner won his first modified

feature in fifteen years Monday night. Sammy Swindell

won for the second year in a row as the Pennzoil World

Of Outlaws invaded Lebanon Valley.

John Hewitt took the lead on the start of the

30-lap modified feature. Ackner grabbed second on the

initial start. Sixth through tenth went four wide into

turn one on the third lap. The top four cars would break

away from the rest of the field by the fourth lap.

Donnie Corellis and Billy Decker battled for the sixth

spot with Corellis holding the position.

The yellow came out on the sixth lap for five

cars in turn four. The pack would go five wide on the

restart. The caution came out on lap eight for Kenny

Tremont and several others cars also were involved.

Corellis would pass Rob Pitcher for third on the tenth

circuit.

Dickie Larkin would grab the fourth spot after

a restart on lap ten. Larkin and Corellis would battle

for the third spot on lap 11. Brett Hearn would get up

to battle Pitcher for the fifth spot on lap 11.

Meanwhile Hewitt continued to lead up front. Several

cautions between laps 12 and 14 would bunch up the

field.

At halfway it was Hewitt, Ackner, and Larkin. A

restart on lap 15 allowed Ackner to slip by Hewitt and

take the lead. Eddie Marshall and Larkin would race for

several laps contesting the third spot. Ackner would

open up a half straightaway lead by lap 20. Invading

driver Jeff Heotzler was up to sixth by lap 24. Larkin

would battle Hewitt for second on the same lap. Hearn

had moved up to battle Marshall for fourth with three

laps remaining.

Trouble on the Hewitt mount as the motor let go

bringing out the final caution on lap 29 ending a good

run for Hewitt. This moved Marshall up to second for the

restart and Hearn to third. Hearn would pass Marshall

for second, but could not catch the front running

Ackner. This was the first win for Ackner since 1982.

Hearn was second, Marshall was third, Heotzler fourth,

and Larkin fifth.
