DECKER'S SLICK ON SHELDON OIL NIGHT
WEST LEBANON NY- Billy Decker was the winner of the 30-lap modified feature on Sheldon Oil night. Decker was able to survive Mother Nature and several early race incidents for his first win of the 1997 season.
Two crashes marred the start of the modified feature race. When the drivers settled down, Donnie Ackner lead the way. Ackner would open up almost a full straightaway lead by lap three. Billy Decker was able to take the top spot away from Ackner on a lap six restart.
The tenth lap would find a good battle battle for fourth on lap ten. Brett Hearn would get as high as sixth, before a suspension part broke. Hearn would finish on the lead lap, well off the pace.
Kenny Tremont was on the move taking the third spot on lap fourteen. Dickie Larkin grabbed second after a lap fourteen restart. Donnie Ackner would battle for third just after halfway.
Billy Decker opened up a twenty car lead by lap nineteen. Decker would find his #91 in heavy traffic with eight laps to go. With five laps to go Decker opened up a half-straightawy on second and cruised home to the checkered flag. He was followed across the line by Dickie Larkin in second. Kenny Tremont would finish third, Donnie Ackner fourth, and Donnie Corell is rounding out the top five.
