KENNY BRIGHTBILL AGAIN! -- GRABS FIFTH SMALL-BLOCK MODIFIED WIN OF SEASON AT EAST WINDSOR SPEEDWAY FRIDAY NIGHT
EAST WINDSOR, N.J. ~ Defending Small-Block Modified champion Kenny Brightbill continues his rampage! On Friday night the popular Sinking Spring, Pa. dirt track stock car racing veteran won his fifth main event of the year in front of a large crowd.
Kevin Hirthler of Green Lane, Pa. was the initial leader of the contest, while Brightbill started his drive to the front by passing five cars on the first lap. Brightbill entered the top five with four laps in the books and the charged to the front on a lap five restart. Although Brightbill was again impressive, veteran Fred Dmuchowski of Neshanic Station was also the star of the show as he reeled in Brightbill and chased
him to the checker flag. Mark Bitner of Allentown, Frenchtown's Billy Pauch and Jimmy Horton of
Neshanic Station wrapped up the top five.
Defending champ and current Street Stock point leader Dave Brymer of Titusville extended his advantage by winning the companion 15-lapper. Brymer took the lead at half- way before taking his fifth checker of the year. Al Cheney of Cranbury, Larry Bubeck of New Hope, Pa., Somerset's Wayne Hansen and Kim Cooke of Hamilton were second through fifth.
Rocco Infante of Hamilton was the first leader of the Sportsman 15-lapper, but Ringoes' Ryan Godown took the lead on the fourth lap and then led Infante to the finish. Stan Ploski of Ringoes, Bordentown's Paul Marra and Scott Flammer of West Millford completed the top five.
Promoter Jack Simmons and Ward's Fuel Service sponsored the annual "Kids' Big Wheel Races" with Brett Witt (4), Chuck Flesch (6), Sara Flesch (8) and Brian Fortkiewicz (8) the big winners.
This Friday night (July 23) the Small-Block Modifieds battle in "Twin 20 lap" main events, while Sportsman and Street Stock racers compete in 15-lappers. Practice starts at 7:00 p.m. and racing begins at 7:30.
