Tim Fuller Wins In 358-Modified Return To Mohawk International Raceway Friday

June 25, 2021

HOGANSBURG, NY – After an almost 2 year delay the 358 modifieds made their triumphant return to the Mohawk International Raceway on Thursday June 24th. An over flowing crowd along with a large field of cars made for a very exciting night of racing. The weather started to show summer like temperatures with a glimpse of what the season may bring.

The Mod Lites would make their way onto the racing surface for their 20 lap affair. Jason Premo would fire from the pole with hopes of leading the feature wire to wire. However 2 other competitors decided it would their night to put on a show. Harley Brown would take the lead on Lap 4 after 2 cautions and would look to be untouchable. However Tristan Dibble would make it a race for the final 5 laps and push Brown to the limits of his talent. Brown used his knowledge of the speedway and park it in Victory Lane for the first time in 2021.

The Sportsman would take to the raceway for their all green 50 lap event. Delbert Legrow Jr would start from the pole and seemed destined to find his way into Victory Lane. After a great redraw Zach Arquiett would fire from the 3rd starting spot. On Lap 5 a 3 car pile up in Turn 1 would see Joshua Pete be taken pitside via the hook. Nick Heywood and Dave Rogers would be able to drive away under their own power. On the Lap 5 restart Z.Arquiett would get off to a great start and beat Legrow Jr to the bottom on Turn 1 to become the new leader. Zach Arquiett would not relinquish the lead despite of the best challenges that Legrow Jr could present. Arquiett would go on to lead the remaining 45 laps and pick up his first win of the season.

Finally the feature that most fans had waited for with eager anticipation would pull onto the racing surface. Tommy Jock Jr would find himself starting from the pole position after his young son David picked the #1 spot from the redraw earlier. With Tim Fuller starting from the outside, TJ would have his work cut out for him. On the first green flag, Fuller wasted no time jumping out to the early race lead. After the first yellow flag, Fuller decided to do his best to put himself deep in lap traffic by Lap 19. Michael Maresca would work his way up through the field and pursue Fuller for the next 20 laps. Maresca appeared to have a stronger car than Fuller had expected. However on Lap 29, Maresca’s front end malfunction which caused his steering linkage to fail. Maresca would launch himself hard into the safety barrier off of Turn 3. Maresca would be ok. Fuller would go on and lead all 45 laps into Victory Lane.

After a very successful showing 2 weeks ago, the Pro Stocks made a return visit to MIR. This time though it would be a very different story. Sid Harmer Jr would lead from the first green flag to the checkers to pick up the win.

The final race of the evening would see a B Main for the Sportsman. Bentley Gray would go on to lead all 10 laps to conclude the show.
