Sept. 24, 2022

CLEARFIELD, PA – Tylor Cochran of Williamsport made his first visit a winning one by copping the Laurel Highlands 305 Sprint feature Saturday night at Hidden Valley Speedway. Other new winners included: Ayden Cipriano of Hermitage in the Small Block Modifieds, Casey Wolfe of Penfield won his first Amsoil Pure Stock feature and Luke Hoffner of Turbotville picked up his first Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinder feature of the season.

Levi Ardery of West Decatur picked up his fourth feature win of the season in the Scaife’s Racing Supplies Semi Lates.

Marvin “Waco” Williams and George Bailey led the Semi Lates to the green flag, with Bailey shooting into the lead for the first two laps, before he spun on lap two, in turn two. This put Williams in the lead, and he led until lap four, when Levi Ardery was able to wrestle the lead away from him. Williams held off Steve Scaife Jr. the next five laps, before he was able to take over second and set his sights on the leader. As the race wore on, Scaife was reeling in the leader, but he could not find the extra burst of power to take the win. At the waving of Jon Shipley’s checkered flag it was Ardery getting his fourth win of the season over Scaife, Bailey, Williams and Jeremy Lippert. Ardery won the heat.

The Laurel Highlands 305 Sprints saw Tylor Cochran and Derek Swartz on the front row, following a redraw, with Cochran taking the lead and never looking back. He had Swartz in tow the entire 25-lap distance. DJ Cassler was a solid third for the first 13 laps, but mechanical problems sent him to the pits and out of contention. Timmy Bittner then moved to third, holding off Roger Irvine the rest of the way. The top five at the conclusion were Cochran, Swartz, Bittner, Irvine and Jeff Weaver. Cochran and Bittner split heat wins.

Trent Ogden started on the pole of the Small Block Modified feature, flanked on the outside by newcomer Ayden Cipriano, who shot into the lead and led the 20-lapper flag-to-flag. While he led, Hayden Holden moved into second, setting up a battle of the teenagers, as Holden tried to chase down Cipriano, but through lap 10, Holden had to try and hold off his dad, Jimmy, who was coming from sixth, then on lap 10, Jimmy moved his son to third, then the yellow waved on lap 13. On the restart, Jimmy went high in turn two, and son Hayden took advantage and took second from his dad, and held his dad at bay. At the checkered flag it was Cipriano winning over Hayden Holden, Jimmy Holden, Shannon Casher and Jimmy Luzier. Heat wins went to Cipriano and Jimmy Holden.

The Amsoil Pure Stocks had Casey Wolfe and Ryan Jones on the front row, as Wolfe took the lead and set the pace, with second being the big race, as Wolfe was leading Jones sat second for much of the race, with Brad Benton coming from last towards the front, and he challenged Jone for second for several laps, before finally taking the runner up spot on lap 11 and running out of time, as Wolfe took his first HVS win of the season. Benton was second, Jones held on to third, Dennis Hathaway was fourth and Brady Gallaher was fifth. Wolfe also won the heat.

The Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinders saw Ryan Lippert and Matt Weaver on the front row, with third place Luke Hoffner leading the first lap after getting by Lippert in turn one. Following a pair of cautions on the first lap, Lippert was able to take the lead back from Hoffner, and the duo ran side-by-side several times, before Lippert opened up a nice lead and looked to be headed for his first ever HVS win, but on lap 11, Lipperts car lost power on the backstretch, relinquishing the lead over to Hoffner. Hoffner was able to hold off Tanner Ogden the final four laps to get his first A-main win of the season. Earlier in the season Hoffner picked up a second chance feature win, but this was his first feature win in a couple of years. At the line, the top five were: Hoffner, Ogden, Hunter Flook, Weaver, and Lem Crawford. Heat wins went to Lippert and Weaver.
