Perrego Wins

By Bond Brungard
ACCORD, NY – As soon as everyone recovered from their Thanksgiving hangovers there was another gathering Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Bullring for the annual Gobbler 50-lap modified feature.
Anthony Perrego won the Gobbler modified feature after defeating a 26-car field during an afternoon and evening of racing, which was sponsored by HO Penn. Richard Smith was second, and Andy Bachetti was third.
Perrego took the lead following a caution and then stayed in front for a drive to Victory Lane and the celebration following his success to end the season.
“It feels pretty good. I’ve won it a couple of times. It’s cool to come back and win it again,” said Perrego.
Perrego has raced for many years at the Bullring, and he went to Victory Lane earlier this spring by winning another fan favorite.
“We won the King of the Catskills, so it was cool to come in and get that one,” he said. “The only one we left on that table was the Battle of the Bullring, but we’ll come back next year. It’s a good way to end the year, and we’ll be here next year.”
There were also other feature races during the final competition of 2022 at the Bullring. Travis Green won the 30-lap Sportsman feature from start to finish after winning the divisional title earlier this autumn. Justin Comes was second, and Kyle Rohner was third.
Bob Sleight, Jr. won the Pure Stock feature. Bill Deak Jr. was second, and Jayden Sleight was third.
Tim DeGrote won the Fireball 4-cylinder feature. Brandon Conklin was second, and Jeff DeGroat was third.
Walt Henry won the Rookie Sportsman feature. Mike Arnold was second, and Chase Zimmer was third.
Blaire Schoenly won the All-Star Slingshot feature. Lydia Navarro was second and Amber Baccaglini was third.
Bodie Marks won the Junior Slingshot feature. E.J Hatch was second, and Preston Trautschold was third in a race that did not include a single yellow flag.
