Bob Savoie & Ron Ford Score Modified Wins While Les Streeter & Jake Slack Scored at Street Stocks & 4 Cylinders

Les Streeter picked up the Street Stock 40 lap championship feature win on Friday night at Afton Raceway Park. Bob Savoie took the checkers in the 358 Modified-Sportsman main, while Ron Ford took his third feature win of 1992 in the regular show. Jake Slack won the makeup feature in the Four Cylinder Street Stocks. The Season Championship was curfewed out and will be completed at the next race.

The early portion of the Street Stock feature saw Steve Alger and Denny Smith battling for the lead. Alger held the early advantage and led until lap 19 when Smith slipped underneath the 116A and out dragged him down the back stretch. The two continued to battle until Smith went high in turn 3 and Alger pulled into the lead on lap 27. The lead was short lived, however, as the two tangled in turn 2 bringing out the caution. This put Ed Ward in the top spot with Les Streeter sitting second, Mike Buchek third, Jerry Northrup fourth, and Jake Slack fifth.

Streeter pulled the 57J under Ward down the back stretch and grabbed what would turn out to be the win. Mike Buchek finished second, Jake Slack third, Steve Alger battled back to a strong fourth place finish and Jerry Northrup rounded out the top five.

In the make up feature from the previous week's rain out for the Modifieds, Bob Savoie picked up the win in a caution-plagued event. Mike Clapperton came home second, Darrin Schuler took the third spot, Bill Tittle drove Alan Latwinski's car and finished fourth, Stacey Jackson, a woodhull regular, finished fifth.

In the regular feature, Ron Ford out dueled a determined D.G. Wagner for the lead and then held off Bob Savoie to capture his third feature win of the year. Wagner grabbed the early lead from Wayne Van Horn and held on until Ford took over on a restart. Savoie got by Wagner to take second. Mike Clapperton's late charge put him in fourth with Stacey Jackson taking fifth.

Jake Slack and Rich Watson battled side-by-side for the lead with Slack finally grabbing the advantage and picking up the win. Watson took second, Jim Weaver finished third, John Kostbar finished fourth and Paul Miller finished fifth.
