MCCREADIE CONTINUES HOT STRING ON PARTS PLUS/B104.7 FM NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY...Bob McCreadie overcame all ob- stacles to record his eighth Brewerton Speedway DIRT Modified feature win of the season last Friday on Parts Plus/B104.7 FM Night. McCreadie overcame 24 other com- petitors and the record heat to collect the $1,500 winners share of the 35 lap main event. Herb DeVaul, Jim Olin, Dick Weiland, and Bill Flask also recorded feature wins at the "D-shaped DIRT Demon".
Veteran John Podolak led the opening lap of the PartsPlus/B104.7 FM DIRT Modified feature from the out- side pole starting position. DIRT Modified rookie, Dave Axton, overtook Podolak for the lead on lap two. Axton, who started from the pole position, would lead up until lap four. It was at that time when Billy Abold, another DIRT Modi- fied rookie, would lead the 25 car feature field. Once in front, Abold opened up his lead. The 1994 Brewerton Speed- way Street Stock Champion would lead up until the half- way point of the 35 lap main event. It was on lap 19 when McCreadie found room under Abold to take away the top spot. Abold was able to hold off McCreadie for several laps, but the "Master of Going Faster", finally came away with the advantage.
McCreadie would go on to his eighth Brewerton Speed- way DIRT Modified feature win of the season in the Kinney Drug Stores DIRT Modified. Abold held on for a fine second place finish, his second of the season at the "D-shaped DIRT Demon". Veterans Charlie Donk, Pat Ward, and Donnie Wetmore completed the top five feature finishers.
Positions sixth through tenth were occupied by J.J. Michaels, Buzzie Reutimann, Roger Phelps, Lou Michaels, and Steve Roberts. DIRT Modified heat race wins were claimed by Jeff Sykes, Jimmy Phelps, and McCreadie. The consolation race was won by Roberts. Herb DeVaul won his first Street Stock feature of the season last Friday night. DeVaul won out over Bob Root, Mike Watkins, Ricky Breed, and Kevin Root.
