Support division victories were stocks by Dale Welty (Super Stocks), T.J. Potrzebowski (Prostoder Midseason Championship), and Chris McCann (4-Cylinder Stocks). The Hilliard Corporation was the night's sponsor. In D.I.R.T. 358 Modified action, Billy VanPelt took immedi- ate command, pulling away from the pack. Scott Gurdak, who trailed VanPelt by only nine points coming into the event, kept VanPelt in his sights from second spot. Rookie Kevin Blacken and "The Little Gun Maker" Chuck Kennison battled for third. Kennison was relentless, trying high and low, but Blacken held his ground. Don Lawson and Marty Conlon had an exciting battle of thier own, battling back and forth for the fifth position. VanPelt, keeping just out of the grasp of Gurdak, seemed to have the fast line around the quick clay oval, but his lead began to evaporate with six laps to go. Gurdak closed in, but was never able to seriously challenge VanPelt. Scott experimented with several differ- ent lines throughout the event, but none proved effective in catching VanPelt's new '95 Troyer. Kevin Blacken, recover- ing from a devistating crash two weeks back, ran a great race to finish third. Chuck Kennison was fourth, and Marty Conlon earned a top five finish. Hard charger of the night was Macedon's Mark Hawkins who finished sixth in the Midseason Championship event. Local runner Rich Karlnoski grabbed the early lead in the Super Stock 20 lap feature event. Bobby Teed and Bruce Ross made it a three way battle, but Karlnoski held his line to keep the top spot. Points leader Dale Welty (Spencer, NY) was first to find the quick way around the clay oval. Welty used the outside line to his advantage, moving from his 12th starting spot to battle side by side with Bruce Ross for second by lap five. Welty took the lead on lap eight and never looked back. Ross secured second place, but third spot was contested up tp the checkered flag. Rich Karlnoski, Quinn Sutherland, Dave Machuga, and Kevin Chilson all battled for the posi- tion. Karlnoski came away with the third place finish, followed by Quinn Sutherland and Kevin Chilson in the top five. The Pro Stock Mid Season Championship 20 lap event found T.J. Potrzebowski (Elmira, NY) in the early lead. Brad Abbey, Steve Brace, and Gene Balmer traded positions throughout the event, all racing for second spot. Doug Laughlin and Rick Hoyt put on a great show for 5th. Mike Williams and Troy Sobolewski charged their way from the back of the starting grid to record fine top ten finishes. T.J. Potrzebowski recorded the Midseason Cham- pionship victory, followed by Steve Brace, Brad Abbey, Gene Balmer, and Rick Hoyt. Great action in the 4-Cylin- der Stock division found Willie Grant and Chris McCann putting on a show for the top spot in the 15 lap feature event. By the half way mark, McCann had the lead well in hand, but points leader Tom Stewart charged his way into third from the rear of the pack. McCann had too much left at the end and went on for the victory. Willie Grant earned second, followed by Tom Stewart, and Bry Weiskoff. Karl Weichenthal came from the back of the field to finish in the the Dye.
