TIM FULLER, BRIAN MCDONALD, AL PITTS, AND RICK STILES TAKE CHECKERS
Hogansburg, NY...Before we get into Saturday nights race action, the staff and management at Frogtown Inter- national Speedway would like to extend their condolences to Can-Am Speedway for the devastation that they sus- tained last Saturday. Our thoughts are with you. Thirty-two Modifieds checked into the speedway last
Saturday night and when the feature rolled out on to the speedway surface, Neil Harvey and Roy Tarbell lead the way. Tarbell jumped out for the early lead followed by Bill Woodward, Kyle Jacobs, Al Woodward, and Rick Cauvier. The caution flag was thrown on lap number five for the 40M of Paul Moreland, who had come to a stop in turn number two. Once the green flag was displayed again, Roy Tarbell again jumped out for the lead followed again by Bill Woodward and Kyle Jacobs. Kevin Fetterly had worked his way up to fourth position, but one lap later, Rick Cauvier took over fourth forcing Kevin to sit in fifth spot. The race was once again brought under cautiuon when Kevin Fetterly had something break in the front end of his car. Fetterly was unable to turn the wheel coming around turn four andslammed into the front straight away wall; Kevin was ok. Roy again jumped out into the lead on the lap number sixteen restart followed by Bill Woodward, Tim Fuller, (who had started in the 19th position), Rick Cauvier, and Kyle Jacobs. Tarbell and Fuller put on quite a show for the fans as Fuller tried low a couple of times to take over first, but Tarbell held his own. Then coming around to take the checkered flag in turn four, Tim went on the high side of Roy to take home the win. Bill Woodward was second, Roy Tarbell was third, Rick Cauvier was fourth, followed by Kyle Jacobs for fifth. The Sportsmen feature found Rance Bell and Wayne Villnave leading the field to the racing surface. Rance took advantage of the starting spot by jump- ing out for the early lead. Wayne Villnave, Lou Bombardier, Leah Tarbell, and Mario St. Pierre were all right there behind him waiting to make their move. Rance was pulling away from the second place car of Lou Bombardier when all of a sudden it looked as though Bombardier had a line on Bell and was reeling him in. On lap number eight, Bombar- dier took the lead away from Bell. On the very next lap, the caution was displayed for Rance, who had come to a stop on the backstretch. On the restart, Lou Bombardier again jumped out for the lead followed very closely by Brian McDonald. Brian took over the lead two laps later and went on for the win. Bombardier finished second followed by Leah Tarbell, Mario St. Pierre, and Delbert LeGrow. In the Expert feature, Al Pitts went on to take the win taking the lead away from Sid Harmer on a lap number five restart. Tom Benedict was the early leader until Sid Harmer took over the lead for one brief lap and then it was Al Pitts all the way to the end. Dave Bissonette was second, Rick Oakes was third, Kaelin Baxter fourth, and Tom Benedict rounded out the top five. In the Novice feature, Harold LaVair, Jr. was the first to take the checkered flag but was docked four positions for jumping on a restart. To his surprise, Rick Stiles was given the win followed by Scott kocher, StacyCardnell, Bill Sharow, and Harold LaVair, Jr. Next weeks action is being sponsored by Bears Den/Eastern Door/West- ern Door. It will be a Wheels Discount Auto Supply Stores/ Gabriel Shocks & Struts 358 Modified Syracuse Qualifier. The 358's will run a fifty lap feature. A regular show is scheduled for the Sportsmen, Expert, and Novice classes. Come and join us in all the fun. See you at the Frog!
