Holden Takes Condon Memorial At Hidden Valley; Lofferdo Shaffner, Rougeux among new winners

August 23, 2024

Clearfield, PA - Jimmy Holden of Tiona picked up the Karen Condon Memorial for the Small Block Modifieds Friday night at Hidden Valley Speedway, while Jersey Shores Joe Loffredo picked up his first Semi Late Feature win of the season.

Other new winners include Ryan Shaffner of Shilo and Tyler Rougeux of Grampian pick up Pure Stocks feature wins.

Repeat winners included: Fuzzy Fields of Brockway in the Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks, Luke Hoffner of Turbotville and Ryan Lippert of Clearfield in the Little’s Drive In Four Cylinders, Dakota Shugarts of Clearfield picked up the win in the Junior Four Cylinders, while Lindsey McClellan won the Aquaholic Four Cylinder Powder Puff race and Kyler Kephart won the Four Cylinder Mechanics race.

Karen Condon was an employee of Hidden Valley Speedway when she passed away unexpectedly in 2021. She was a huge race fan who would travel across Central Pennsylvania to catch a race and she was friends with many drivers. Karen was well loved by many and she is missed by all of those who knew her. This race helps keep her memory alive and we can only hope to see it grow well into the future.

The Semi Late Feature saw Joe Loffredo and Luke Hoffner on the front row, and as Sam McClellan waved the green flag it was Hoffner who would lead the opening lap when the caution waved. On the restart, Loffredo was able to shoot by Hoffner for the lead and he took off, opening a slight lead when the next caution waved. Three more yellow flags would slow the field and give second place Gary Little a chance to get the lead, but on this night, Loffredo had the right set up, as he was able to keep Little at bay the final two laps of the event as he grabbed his first HVS win of the season. Little was a closed second, Hoffner held on to third with Shawn Hadden and Dan Gill completing the top five. Heat wins were split between Gill and Little.

The Karen Condon Memorial/Mountain Top Challenge was led to the green by Craig Casher and Jimmy Holden. It’s never good to put any car owned by Mike Stine on the front row, because Stine builds a great car, and Holden put it into the lead at the start and he never gave up the lead, as he held off Casher most of the race, when his son, Hayden moved into second with just two laps to go, but the older Holden was too tough to, as he went on to pick up his fifth win of the season. Hayden Holden was second with Craig Casher third, Levi Picard won a hard fought battle for fourth and Shannon Casher was fifth. Holden won the heat.

Sheddy Graham III and Jim Challingsworth lined up on the front row of the Penn-Ohio Pro Stock feature with Challingsworth taking the lead and holding it for a lap when fifth place starter Fuzzy Fields managed to take the lead. On lap three, seventh place starter Chris Schneider moved into second and set his sights on the leader. By the ½ way point, Schneider was beginning to reel in Fields, but Fields poured on the power and opened up the lead, holding on to pick up his third win of the season. Schneider was a close second, Challingsworth was third, Brandon Connor was fourth and Allen Lamb was fifth. Heat wins went to Schneider and Fields.

Cody Cassler and Mark Bell brought the Pure Stock feature to McClellan’s green flag with Bell taking the lead and Mitch Stiles moving into second with Tim Steis in third. Hard racing for second saw Sties and Stiles make contact, with Steis getting a flat just as he took second. This brought out a caution. On the restart, Bell was still in control as Ryan Shaffner would now move into second and Stiles fell back to third. Shaffner was hounding Bell lap after lap, when he pressured the leader once too often, causing Bell to go high in turns one and two, allowing Shaffner to get under him for the lead. Bell was able to recover and hold on to second as Shaffner crossed under McClellan’s double checkered flags first. Bell was a close second with Stiles third, Cassler fourth and Noah Bloom fifth. Shaffner and Steis won the heats.

Matt Kaufman and Allen Robison sat on the front row of the Little’s Drive In Four Cylinder feature, with Kaufman shooting into the lead and Robison in second. On lap three, Robison battled back into the lead and Kaufman fell to third, then Luke Hoffner took second on lap four and set his sights on the leader. Hoffner was able to work into the on lap seven. Once out front, he led to the end, but he was working hard at keeping Ryan Lippert at bay. Lippert moved into second on lap 9, as Robison dropped out. When McClellan waved the double checkered flags, it was Hoffner getting his fourth win of the season over Lippert, Cole Huber, Jason Elensky and Greg Kiehl. Heat wins were taken by Lippert, Kiehl and Elensky.

Seth Fulmer and Draven Reid led the Junior Four Cylinders to the start with third place starter Dakota Shugarts shooting into the lead and never looking back, as he went on to grab his fourth win of the year. Reid was second with Fulmer third and Miley Hynd was fourth.

The make up Pure Stock feature saw Tyler Rougeux take the lead from Eric Lucas at the start and he never relinquished it, as he held on for his first win of the season. He did not run away for the win, as Lucas and Rougeux were side-by-side much of the first lap. There was door-to-door action throughout the field as Rougeux took his first win of the season. Tim Steis was second, Mitch Stiles was third, Lucas was fourth and Noah Bloom was fifth.

The make up Little’s Drive In Four Cylinder feature was led to the green with Josh Norton and Eric Luzier on the front row, as Luzier led the first lap, before Ryan Lippert took the lead on lap two and went on to a convincing win over Greg Kiehl, Luzier, Luke Hoffner and Cole Huber.

Kyler Kephar led the Four Cylinder Mechanics race from green to checkered. Several mystery drivers ran will including #73 who was second with Sam McClellan third, Randy Luzier was fourth and Ray Lippert was fifth.

Verlee Elensky led the opening two laps of the Aquaholic Four Cylinder Powder Puff feature before Lindsey McClellan took the lead and eventual win. Elensky was second over Danielle Mullen, Melissa Rock and Brenda Snell.
