Canandaigua, NY The younger hall of the Johnson Crothers racing act topped a stellar field of DIRT of New York modifieds in a super race at the Canandaigua Speedway on Saturday night. Danny Johnson wheeled the Bud Seager Heanium Gremlin into the number one spot at the half way point in the 35 lap chase. The win was the third of the season for the Seager Heanium operation and makes the team two for two at the Ontario County Fairgrounds half mile.

Danny's chase to the front was complicated by a first lap encounter which sent the Middlesex, NY resident to the pits and as a result to the rear of the field. Dan wrestled the lead from a very strong running John Birosh after an exciting duel with brother Alan Alan later passed Birosh and challenged Danny briefly for the lead; however. Dan was not to be denied.

With eight laps to go Mery Treichler slipped his J&J Ex press under Birosh to take the number three spot. Birosh held off a strong bid from Darrell Welty to record fourth and his best Canandaigua finish of the season. Side by side racing throughout the race all the way through the field made the main one of the best of the season,

The first lap crash eliminated Davey Moore and pole sitter Mike Carson from the main. Later Ron Baker withdrew from the event with suspension damage he incurred in the melee Will Cagle is still looking for his first Canandaigua main. The Wily one went to the pits midway through the chase. He returned several laps down and still far off the leader's pace

Eighteen of the twenty four started were still racing when Bobby Watson dropped the checkers on Danny Johnson's Mud Bus II

Modified Qualifiers were won by Lin Hough, Danny John son. Mike McLaughlin, and George Ely
