SHEPPARD WINS FIRST EVER BREWERTON SPEEDWAY DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE ON PROMOTION SPEED SUPPLY NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY…Matt Sheppard won his first ever Brewerton Speedway DIRT Big Block Modified feature last Friday on Promotion Speed Supply Night. Sheppard recorded the impressive feature victory over the talent heavy Brewerton Speedway DIRT Big Block Modified field. The victory for the Randy Ross owned, Adam Ross Cut Stone team was worth $2,000 in the 35-lap grind.
Scott Prentice jumped out to the early lead at the start of the Promotion Speed Supply DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Prentice was fast from the start and after five circuits he was being followed in the top five by Craig Terrell, Ryan Phelps, Sean Beardsley and Tom Sears. With 10 laps complete Prentice continued to lead and was now being followed in the top five by Phelps, Sheppard, Sears and Terrell.
Sheppard moved into the second position on lap 11 and started to look to cut down the lead that Prentice had built up. At the halfway point of the 35-lap main event Bob McCreadie, Phelps, Billy Decker, Tom Sears, Tim Sears, Tim McCreadie, Alan Johnson and Vic Coffey were chasing Prentice and Sheppard. It was on lap-19 when Sheppard took the top spot away from Prentice.
Once in front Sheppard opened up a slight lead. The final caution period of the race came on lap-33. The caution didn’t slow Sheppard as he went on to his first ever Brewerton Speedway DIRT Big Block Modified feature win. The battle for second place found four cars, racing four wide coming out of the fourth turn of the final lap. Prentice held on for a strong second place finish with Decker, Bob McCreadie and Johnson completing the top five feature finishers.
Sean Lias won his second IMCA Modified feature of the 2004 season last Friday night. Bill Anderson Sr., Johnny Hill, Dale Caswell and Mike Stolarcyk followed Lias across the finish line. Lias worked his way by Anderson for the lead on lap-18 and he would never give the top spot back.
Darren Forbes won his second Dwarf Car / Mod Lite feature race of the season last Friday night. Don Fenner, Mike Isabell, Dan Williams and Tim Devendorf finished in positions second through fifth respectively. Mark Cooper was the highest finishing traditional Dwarf Car with a ninth place finish. Forbes took the lead away from Barker on lap 10 and led the final 10 circuits for the victory.
Ken Klinkowsky won his second Four Cylinder Stock feature of the season last Friday night. Jeff Herbert, Russ Wassner, Chuck Powelczyk and Joey Delacruz followed Klinkowsky across the finish line. Klinkowsky passed Delacruz for the lead on lap five and he led the rest of the distance in the 15-lap event.
Russ Marsden claimed the win in the 15-lap Pure Stock Challenge race. Phil Marsden, Dan Hoffman Sr., Dave Mannise and Nathan Peckham completed the top five feature finishers in the competitive event. Russ Marsden edged Phil Marsden in the hotly contested battle for the feature victory.
